Sungrow Drives Next Phase of Energy Transition with Ultra-Dense Storage and Smart Inverters
=========================
Sungrow, a global leader in photovoltaic (PV) inverters and energy storage systems, is showcasing its latest renewable energy technologies at SNEC 2025, which is being held from June 11 to 13 in Shanghai. The company is presenting a diverse array of innovations aimed at enhancing utility-scale, commercial, and distributed energy markets.
One of the standout features is the PowerTitan 3.0 Energy Storage System (ESS), which sets a new standard for large-scale storage with its high energy density, modular design, and advanced features. The system is available in various configurations: a 10-foot version with 3.45 MWh, a 20-foot version with 6.9 MWh, and the flagship 30-foot Plus version, which boasts a capacity of 12.5 MWh. It supports discharge durations ranging from 2 to 12 hours. Notably, the 30-foot Plus version is recognized as the world’s largest battery energy storage system in terms of both capacity and power density, offering up to 12.5 MW/50 MWh per block.
The PowerTitan 3.0 incorporates an all-in-one AC-DC architecture and utilizes 684Ah stacking battery cells to achieve high integration. This innovative design reduces land use by 45% and cabling needs by 10%, resulting in lower capital costs. With a round-trip efficiency of 93.5%, it delivers robust performance even in extreme environments.
In addition, Sungrow introduced its new commercial and industrial (C&I) energy solutions, including the PowerStack 255CS, a liquid-cooled ESS designed for flexible deployment. This system is built with 314Ah battery cells and offers energy capacities of 257 kWh (2-hour) or 514 kWh (4-hour), achieving more than 90% efficiency and a 20-year design life. It integrates power conversion systems, energy management systems, and complies with global safety standards like UL9540 and NFPA guidelines.
The PowerStack 255CS is adaptable for various applications, such as standalone ESS, PV-plus-ESS systems, EV charging support, and microgrids. It can be paired with Sungrow’s SH125CX, a 125 kW hybrid inverter, to form a fully DC-coupled solution ideal for medium to large C&I applications.
In the utility-scale solar sector, Sungrow unveiled its updated 1+X 2.0 Modular Inverter, which features a scalable block design ranging from 800 kW to 9.6 MW and has received an iF Design Award. This modular design separates critical components, facilitating easier field maintenance and reducing on-site replacement time to just one hour per module. The inverter includes IP66-rated protection and can operate at full capacity without performance loss in temperatures up to 45°C.
Advanced features of the inverter include artificial intelligence for fault detection, enhanced safety management on the DC side, and grid-forming capabilities that help support power grid stability.
