The 15th Edition of the China International Robot Show (CIRS) has showcased the latest developments in industrial AI, highlighting the growing landscape of artificial intelligence in the sector. The event, which took place from April 20 to April 24, 2026, attracted over 3,000 exhibitors from more than 50 countries and regions, including approximately 700 companies from China, making it the largest gathering in the industry.

AI technology is rapidly becoming a crucial factor in enhancing productivity within the industry, especially in robotics and humanoid machine applications. According to Jiang Wei, the director of the show, “AI has become an integral part of industrial productivity, particularly in the application of industrial robots and humanoid machines.” This marks a significant shift in how AI is perceived within manufacturing environments.

At the event, advancements in robotics included self-operating machines capable of executing tasks without direct human intervention. “These industrial robots no longer rely solely on programmed commands. They can autonomously complete work assignments,” Jiang added. This level of independence was previously hard to imagine just a few years ago.

In Germany, for example, machines are now capable of multi-tasking, streamlining production processes even in unpredictable environments. “This type of industrial robot can perform a variety of tasks without the constraints of fixed operations,” said Johannes Müller, a representative at the expo. “Our products can now be effectively implemented across different sectors, showcasing AI’s diverse capabilities.” This showcases a leap from traditional automation to a more intelligent and adaptable manufacturing environment.

Furthermore, the integration of AI into supply chain management is expected to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. The introduction of new platforms allows companies to leverage AI effectively, leading to improved production flows and operational efficiency.

China’s continuous investment in AI infrastructure is poised to strengthen its position as a leader in the global robotics industry. The country aims to maintain its edge by fostering innovation and collaboration within the sector, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of technological advancements.

As this sector evolves, the collaboration between AI and robotics is set to redefine industry standards and practices, paving the way for a future where intelligent systems drive manufacturing and production.
