TECO Electric and Machinery Co., Ltd. made its North American debut from May 12 to 14, partnering with its US subsidiary, TECO-Westinghouse Motor Company, at the XPONENTIAL 2026 International Exhibition in Detroit, showcasing cutting-edge unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and robotics technology.
During the event, TECO introduced its flat wire power system designed specifically for high payload UAVs, as well as the award-winning All-in-One robot joint module, which garnered a 2026 Taiwan Excellence Gold Award. These innovations aim to capture opportunities in the rapidly growing commercial UAV and intelligent robotics markets, leveraging TECO-Westinghouse’s localized service in Texas to provide comprehensive solutions from products to after-sales support.
The General Manager of TECO, Gao Feiyuan, stated, “This North American debut not only showcases TECO’s advanced electromechanical integration technology but also marks a significant step in enhancing our presence in the North American market. Our high-performance flat wire power system for UAVs and highly integrated robot joint modules are designed to meet the urgent demand for efficient and reliable solutions in agriculture, logistics, and automation from North American clients.” He added that TECO aims to build deep collaborations with UAV manufacturers, drone-as-a-service (DaaS) suppliers, and robotics developers to enhance its visibility in the North American smart power system market.
Flat Wire Power System for High Payload UAVs: Enhancing Power Efficiency
TECO showcased its power solutions for high payload commercial UAVs weighing between 10 to 100 kilograms, featuring the T Power Air 12.5kW flat wire motor and the T Power Air TE250 high-power electronic speed controller. TECO has successfully adapted mainstream electric vehicle flat wire technology for UAV motor systems, achieving a maximum single-axis pull force of 76.5 kilograms, providing robust power for heavy-duty applications such as pesticide spraying and logistics transportation. Compared to traditional brushless DC motors (BLDC), this system offers a significant efficiency boost, extending UAV flight time by approximately 20% and addressing endurance challenges.
Specifically optimized for UAV power, the flat wire stator combined with a Halbach array of permanent magnets uses an outer rotor design, increasing torque density by 25%, with maximum efficiency reaching 91.8%. This technology has already been validated with existing agricultural UAV clients. To penetrate the core North American market, TECO is actively advancing product verification and expects to achieve Green UAS certification by the end of 2026 to meet the rigorous requirements of high-spec applications in the North American supply chain. Additionally, in response to the rapid rise of the medium-sized logistics UAV market, TECO is planning the development of a low-rare-earth version of the flat wire motor, demonstrating its agile market strategy and technological readiness.
Gold Award-Winning Joint Module: An All-in-One Integrated Solution Driving the Future of Intelligent Robotics
TECO also presented the All-in-One robot joint module system, which won the 2026 Taiwan Excellence Gold Award. This module integrates key components such as brushless motors, planetary gearboxes, encoders, and sensors, ensuring high reliability, precise control, and exceptional adaptability to various environments. It can be widely applied in robotic arms, quadrupedal robots, and humanoid robots, showcasing TECO’s achievements in high-precision electromechanical and intelligent control technology while further deepening its engagement in intelligent automation and next-generation electromechanical applications.
With over 70 years of foundational electromechanical expertise, TECO continues to enhance its core capabilities in smart power and electromechanical integration, actively expanding into the fields of intelligent mobility, smart manufacturing, and renewable energy applications. Through its participation in XPONENTIAL 2026, TECO not only highlighted its R&D achievements and complete product offerings in the UAV and robotics sectors but also leveraged TECO-Westinghouse’s localized service advantages to strengthen its market presence in North America. Looking ahead, TECO aims to continue integrating global resources, deepening international collaborations, and striving to become a key player in driving global intelligent applications.
