XPONENTIAL 2026 International Drone Exhibition took place from May 11 to May 14 in Detroit, USA, showcasing Taiwan’s impressive presence in the drone industry. Over 20 Taiwanese companies participated, marking the largest representation of any country at the event.

According to Lu Wen-tsan, Deputy Director of the Metal and Electrical Industry Division at Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, this event is the biggest since the establishment of the Overseas Business Opportunity Alliance in September 2021, with nearly 28 companies taking part. The alliance has successfully integrated over 260 domestic manufacturers in areas such as complete drones, modules, materials, and supply chains.

The XPONENTIAL exhibition attracted significant attention from global industry players, including buyers from the United States and other countries. Participants showcased a range of innovative products, from fully integrated drones to advanced artificial intelligence detection systems. The event highlighted Taiwan’s capabilities in the drone sector, particularly in response to global demand driven by geopolitical factors.

Cheng Feng-ning, Chief Strategy Officer of Thunder Tiger Technology, stated that their company has developed various unmanned vehicles for land, sea, and air. Last year, their Overkill FPV suicide drone series received certification from the U.S. Department of Defense, allowing the military to purchase these products directly. The company is also expanding its operations in the U.S., including a motor manufacturing facility that will serve both domestic and international markets.

The exhibition underscored the importance of cost and performance in drone technology, especially given the rapid advancements in the industry due to ongoing global conflicts. The use of drones in military operations has become a focal point, with many countries and companies striving to keep pace with the fast-evolving technology.

At XPONENTIAL 2026, Taiwan’s pavilion not only emphasized non-red supply chains but also sought international collaboration. Companies need to navigate the changing technological landscape and comply with regulatory standards to successfully engage in the global market.

Overall, the exhibition served as a platform for Taiwanese businesses to explore new opportunities and partnerships in the international drone market.
