Sungrow Unveils the Innovative PowerTitan 3.0 Energy Storage System

The PowerTitan 3.0 Energy Storage System Platform, available in 10ft Flex, 20ft Class, and 30ft Plus versions, offers operational durations ranging from 2 to 12 hours. Notably, the 30ft PowerTitan 3.0 Plus is recognized as the world’s largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in terms of both capacity and energy density, achieving a remarkable 45% reduction in land footprint and a 10% decrease in cabling requirements. This system boasts an impressive energy density with up to 684Ah stacking battery cells, delivering 12.5MW/50MWh per AC block.

Sungrow’s advanced technology includes the industry’s first large-scale application of a fully liquid-cooled Silicon Carbide Power Conversion System (SiC PCS), which achieves a maximum efficiency of 99.3% even in high-temperature environments. On June 9, 2025, in Hefei, China, Sungrow, a global leader in inverter and energy storage solutions, announced the launch of its groundbreaking PowerTitan 3.0 Energy Storage System (ESS) Platform designed for utility-scale applications. This platform is engineered to address the complexities of the clean energy landscape, offering unmatched flexibility, power density, intelligence, and safety. ### Key Innovations of PowerTitan 3.0

The PowerTitan 3.0 ESS Platform features a modular library of scenario-based functions, allowing standardized functional modules to be deployed according to specific requirements without the need for redesign. This flexibility enables multiple combinations for various global applications, breaking free from the constraints of fixed container sizes.

Initially, the platform is launched in three versions: the 10ft Flex with a capacity of 3.45MWh, the 20ft Class at 6.9MWh, and the 30ft Plus at 12.5MWh. It maintains stable performance in extreme conditions, operating effectively in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +55°C (-40°F to +131°F) and at altitudes of up to 5,000 meters (16,404 feet).

### Redefining Battery Technology

For projects requiring high capacity and cost efficiency, the PowerTitan 3.0 Plus version features an innovative 684Ah stacking battery cell that delivers up to 12.5MW/50MWh per AC block. This design makes it the world’s largest power density BESS, with over 500kWh per square meter. The back-to-back installation with a spacing of 20mm allows for a more compact layout, reducing land footprint by 45% and cabling by 10%, ultimately lowering capital expenditure (CAPEX).

The 684Ah battery cell is the first of its kind to enter mass production, boasting a higher energy density of 448Wh per liter and a cycle life of over 15,000 cycles. Ensuring safety, it utilizes pioneering Thermo-Electric Separation technology to prevent high-temperature gases from damaging components and to mitigate the risk of thermal runaway.

### Industry-Leading Cooling Technology

Featuring the first large-scale application of fully liquid-cooled SiC PCS, the system provides a power capacity of 450kW per unit, achieving a maximum efficiency of 99.3% and a round-trip efficiency (RTE) of 93.5%. This capability allows for optimal performance even in extreme heat conditions, making it particularly suitable for high-temperature regions.

### Rapid Deployment and Intelligent Operations

Designed for swift deployment, the PowerTitan 3.0 comes pre-installed and pre-debugged, with block-level pre-integration and intelligent parameter configuration conducted at the factory. This allows for one-click automated configuration and inspection on-site, reducing deployment time by 17 days for a 1GWh project.

The system is equipped with intelligent features, including Sungrow’s PowerBidder Electricity Market Trading System, which minimizes risks and enhances profits from electricity trading. Additionally, the PowerDoctor Operation & Maintenance (O&M) tool accurately predicts over 30 fault types with over 99% diagnostic accuracy, facilitating proactive maintenance.

### Built-in Grid-Forming Capabilities

Sungrow’s PowerTitan 3.0 incorporates Stem-Cell Grid-Forming Tech 2.0, which anticipates grid disturbances before they escalate, ensuring that energy storage systems respond effectively. It enables synchronous delivery of renewables and energy storage, offers GW-scale black start capabilities, and allows for seamless switching between grid-following and grid-forming modes. With rapid response times of 20 milliseconds and the ability to adapt to wide-range SCR changes (1-40), this system ensures reliability across all grid scenarios.
