Jiangsu Province has introduced guidelines to establish a high ground for intelligent manufacturing in the medical device sector. According to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, this initiative aims to align with the trends of precision, informatization, intelligence, and sustainability within the medical device industry. The newly released document, titled “Implementation Guidelines for Intelligent Transformation and Digital Networking in the Jiangsu Medical Device Industry,” provides a construction pathway for industry enterprises by focusing on key aspects, typical scenarios, and implementation paths.
The guidelines emphasize a core logic of “data-driven, intelligent collaboration, and full-chain integration,” creating an implementation framework that integrates “foundation base, data hub, business applications, and ecological collaboration.” This framework aims to connect the entire value chain of research and development, production, management, and service. It will establish a tiered empowerment system while ensuring safety guarantees and compliance supervision support.
The goal is to achieve significant advancements by 2027, including greater accessibility of digital research and design tools and a marked increase in the proportion of domestic companies obtaining new invention patents for three categories of medical devices. Additionally, the localization rate of core components for Class III medical devices is expected to surpass certain thresholds. The industry aims to digitize key processes, achieve widespread AI quality inspection, and cultivate a number of national-level intelligent medical device factories.
