During the Intersolar Europe 2025 event held in Munich, Germany on May 6, 2025, Huawei Digital Energy hosted the “Integration of Solar and Storage, Intelligent Future” conference, attracting around 300 global customers and partners to participate.

The conference focused on comprehensive grid integration and high-quality development, unveiling a new generation of grid-based energy storage products and solutions aimed at large-scale energy storage stations, microgrids, commercial and industrial applications, and residential scenarios. This initiative is positioned to lead the renewable energy industry into a comprehensive grid integration era.

Zhou Tao, President of Huawei Digital Energy’s Smart PV Product Line, outlined the strategic objectives and value propositions of the smart photovoltaic initiative. He emphasized that Huawei’s smart PV will adhere to strategic goals focused on the integration of 4T technologies, promoting the construction of a “new power system” energy infrastructure. The Huawei smart string grid-based energy storage system aims to accelerate the development of a new power system powered by 100% renewable energy through three key value propositions: ubiquitous grid integration, end-to-end safety, and a single platform supporting all business models.

Specifically, these propositions include:

  • Ubiquitous Grid Integration: Ensuring grid integration throughout the generation, transmission, distribution, and consumption processes, supporting the long-term stability of the new power system.
  • End-to-End Safety: Ensuring safety at every stage of the energy storage system, protecting equipment, personnel, and assets.
  • A Single Platform for All Business Models: Providing flexible expansion capabilities and smooth C-rate evolution features at the hardware level. The AI-powered solar-storage collaborative management platform can achieve power generation forecasting and operational strategy optimization across various business models.

Zheng Yue, President of the Energy Storage Business for Huawei Digital Energy’s Smart PV Product Line, introduced the next-generation all-scenario smart string grid-based energy storage platform, which includes new products for energy stations and commercial applications. Addressing the challenges posed by high proportions of renewable energy to grid stability and energy storage safety, Huawei has defined the golden standard for grid integration capabilities with its intelligent string grid-based energy storage platform, which encompasses all scenarios, operating conditions, and life cycles of the power system.

For example, the 30MW solar and 6MW/24MWh energy storage station in Tibet operates efficiently in high-altitude (approximately 4,600 meters), extremely low-temperature, and weak grid conditions, achieving full capacity grid integration. The solar power output can increase from 1.5MW to 12MW, enhancing the consumption of solar energy by 75%.

Huawei’s smart string grid-based energy storage system reconstructs the value boundaries of energy storage using power electronics technology and safeguards grid stability with digital intelligence, advancing a new chapter in global renewable energy integration.

Furthermore, Huawei Digital Energy has redefined energy storage safety through six core safety designs, upgrading the safety protection system from the conventional cabinet level to a more refined battery pack level, effectively preventing thermal runaway. The system enhances proactive safety capabilities through a comprehensive Battery Management System (BMS) with multidimensional intelligent diagnostics, ensuring robust safety for the healthy development of the energy storage industry.

Sun Quan, President of Huawei Digital Energy’s Residential Smart PV Business, unveiled the new 6.0 Home Energy Management Solution, showcasing advancements from green energy generation to intelligent electricity usage. The new LUNA S1-7kWh battery features an industry-leading 15-year warranty, a usable capacity that exceeds industry standards by over 40%, and a maximum expandable capacity of 252kWh, making it a highlight for both residential and small commercial settings.

The Huawei residential solar-storage solutions have become a trusted choice for 3.9 million households and 30,000 installation partners worldwide. From zero-carbon homes in Milan, Italy to solar towns in Sweden, Huawei’s solutions facilitate the journey from energy independence for zero-carbon households to interconnected energy communities.
