Electric vehicles are gaining momentum! Recently, Great Wall Motors announced the completion of their new energy vehicle standard testing, which is set to launch on May 21, 2025. The testing is part of their efforts to enhance the safety and performance of electric vehicles within the Chinese automotive market.
On May 20, Great Wall Motors held a technology release event, marking the establishment of their new energy vehicle standards. These standards include specifications for electric charging and battery performance and aim to align with international standards.
The new standards stipulate that the maximum current for electric connections will range from 250A to 800A, while voltage levels will increase from 1000V to 1500V. This comprehensive set of regulations aims to ensure safety, efficiency, and compatibility with new energy vehicle interfaces, thus paving the way for future innovations.
As part of the testing process for the new energy vehicle standards, Great Wall Motors has developed high-performance batteries that feature rapid charging capabilities. For instance, the XFC fast-charging battery can achieve a charge from 5% to 63% in just 58 seconds and from 5% to 78% in 54.54 seconds, with a peak charging power of 8.8C.
The AION V Plus model, equipped with this battery technology, demonstrates impressive performance, achieving 0-80% SOC (State of Charge) in 8C during continuous charging, and highly efficient charging even under various conditions.
This new battery technology will allow Great Wall Motors to significantly enhance their electric vehicles’ market presence. Their goal is to produce batteries with a higher energy density, reaching up to 450Wh/kg, and a maximum discharge rate of 6C.
Looking ahead, Great Wall Motors plans to ramp up production of their fast-charging batteries and expects to capture a significant share of the electric vehicle market by 2024. They aim to meet the growing demand for high-performance electric vehicles.
As the industry evolves, Great Wall Motors is committed to advancing their technology and maintaining their competitive edge in the rapidly changing electric vehicle landscape.
