On April 25, to enhance energy cooperation between China and Vietnam and support Vietnam’s green transition goals, Electric Power Wind Energy, in collaboration with UL Solutions, a globally recognized certification organization, hosted the “Electric Power Wind Energy 2025 Vietnam Customer Promotion Conference” in Hanoi. The event attracted nearly 100 industry leaders, technical experts, and representatives from the energy sector across Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
The conference, themed “Shanghai Electric: Winning Together“, focused on innovations in wind energy technology, localized solutions, and trends in multi-energy integration.
Long-term Commitment to Vietnam’s Market
Wang Haiyang, General Manager of Electric Power Wind Energy’s Overseas Products & Technology Division, highlighted the company’s long-standing commitment in Vietnam during his opening remarks. Over the past few decades, Shanghai Electric Group has supported various thermal power projects in Vietnam, accumulating extensive local experience. As Vietnam firmly embarks on a clean energy transition, the first wind power project pioneered by Electric Power Wind Energy is currently being installed in the central region, with grid connection expected in June this year, marking a new phase of collaboration with local clients.
To meet the unique demands of the Vietnamese market, Electric Power Wind Energy has launched customized onshore and offshore wind turbine units, designed specifically for local conditions. From the mountainous north to the flat southern plains, the company’s product platform aims to provide suitable wind energy solutions throughout Vietnam. David Nguyen, Global Key Accounts Director for UL Solutions in Vietnam, attended the summit and delivered a speech discussing UL’s business scope and insights regarding the PDP-8 Power Development Plan released by the Vietnamese government on April 18.

During the keynote session, Zhou Mao, Sales Manager for UL Wind Energy in the Asia-Pacific region, provided a detailed overview of UL’s services and shared relevant project cases from the Vietnamese market. Cao Jing, Director of Overseas Solutions at Electric Power Wind Energy, introduced the company’s business and development history along with tailored wind energy solutions designed for Vietnam’s climate and wind speed characteristics, offering local clients comprehensive support from site selection to installation and operation.
Doan Xuan Minh Tuan, Director of Hai An Company, shared successful experiences from an onshore wind project in Quang Tri Province, covering various aspects such as wind resource assessment, logistics, installation, and infrastructure. He also provided valuable insights into local policies and regulations, emphasizing that “policy coordination and technological integration” are crucial for efficient project implementation. Additionally, a representative from Shanghai Hydrogen Era Technology showcased innovations in the green hydrogen equipment sector, focusing on the “Wind + Hydrogen” theme, which explored new pathways for multi-energy collaborative development.
Strategic Partnership to Expand Global Horizon
During the summit, UL Solutions awarded Electric Power Wind Energy with certification in the wind energy sector, recognizing its technical capabilities and international authority. Subsequently, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen collaboration in technology research and development, project certification, and market expansion, jointly promoting high-quality development of green energy in Vietnam and globally. UL continues to support enterprises in navigating complex challenges through independent certification and technical assurance. The certification awarded to Electric Power Wind Energy not only recognizes its technological strength but also serves as a foundation for deepening cooperation.
