In the third quarter of 2025, Tesla’s Supercharger network experienced a record surge in usage. According to recent statistics, Tesla owners around the globe averaged 587,000 charging sessions each day, nearly three times the number from two and a half years ago. Reports indicate that the energy consumption from the Tesla Supercharger network during this quarter is expected to reach 1.8 terawatt-hours, marking a 29% increase year-over-year.
In addition to the increased usage, Tesla is also accelerating the expansion of its Supercharger network. The company’s production and delivery report for the third quarter of 2025 reveals that approximately 4,000 new Supercharger stations were added globally during this quarter, compared to 3,500 in the second quarter. This translates to the installation of a new Supercharger station roughly every half hour. The year 2025 is poised to be a record year for the number of new Superchargers installed.
As the charging network continues to improve, the reliability of Tesla Superchargers is also on the rise. Recently, J.D. Power, a consumer insights and market research firm, released the latest findings from its 2025 U.S. Electric Vehicle Public Charging Experience Study. The study indicates that Tesla Superchargers boast an exceptionally low failure rate and high user satisfaction, making them the most reliable charging network for all-electric vehicles in the U.S. Furthermore, the reliability of Tesla’s charging stations has reached its highest level in four years.
