Siemens Energy and Eaton Partner to Accelerate Data Centre Construction and Deployment
==========================================================================================
June 17, 2025 – Siemens Energy and Eaton have joined forces to provide grid-independent energy supplies and standardized modular systems, aiming to expedite the construction and deployment of data centres. Data centres are frequently located on expansive sites without established grid infrastructure, necessitating power grid extensions and increased electricity generation. This process often takes longer than the construction of the data centres themselves.
Through their collaboration, Siemens and Eaton intend to create modular and scalable solutions that enable rapid electricity supply to data centres, functioning independently of existing power grids when necessary. Siemens Energy’s standard configuration for modular, scalable power plants generates 500 MW of electricity using SGT-800 gas turbines, incorporating redundancy and supplementary battery storage systems. This modular approach allows for scalable plant sizes and can operate in a carbon-neutral manner if hydrogen is available and integrated into the data centre’s sustainability strategy.
The Siemens Energy concept also includes an optional emission-free grid connection, which can be installed during construction or retrofitted later, allowing data centres to provide grid services. In parallel, Eaton will supply electrical equipment, including medium- and low-voltage switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), busways, structural support, racks, containment systems, engineering services, and software across skidded and modular designs.
“Our offering provides hyperscalers, co-locators, and investors with a distinctive package that can reduce time-to-market by up to two years in various regions, resulting in significant revenue increases,” stated Andreas Pistauer from Siemens Energy. “Our power plant design features redundancy, eliminating the need for backup diesel generators and cutting CO2 emissions by about 50%.”
