
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has reported that the market penetration rate of passenger cars equipped with combined driving assistance systems has exceeded 60% this year.
According to the latest data, in the first seven months of 2025, the sales of new passenger cars with combined driving assistance systems reached 7.76 million units, translating to a penetration rate of 62.6%. This represents an increase of 5.7 million units and 40 percentage points compared to the same period in 2021.
Combined driving assistance systems have become a significant highlight for new models in the market and a crucial factor for consumers when making purchasing decisions. A representative from the Ministry stated that public consultations on mandatory national standards for these systems have already taken place. Furthermore, discussions on the safety of intelligent connected vehicles will be held at the 2025 World Intelligent Connected Vehicle Conference, organized by the Ministry, the Ministry of Transport, and the Beijing Municipal Government, set to take place in mid-October.
The Ministry has also indicated that China has identified intelligent connected vehicles as one of the eight core areas for enhancing the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector. Over the past five years, the country has implemented the New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Plan (2021-2035), promoting advancements in electrification, connectivity, and intelligence. A comprehensive industrial chain has been established, covering intelligent cockpits, autonomous driving, and cloud control systems.
