Xinjiang’s “Green Sea” Project is set to commence with an investment of 13 billion yuan. According to a report from China News Network on May 27, 2025, the project aims to develop renewable energy resources in the region.

On May 22, the project was formally announced at a ceremony in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, highlighting its significance in promoting sustainable energy. The project will feature a total investment of 10.05 billion yuan and is expected to begin construction this year. The first phase of electricity generation is scheduled for completion on May 15, 2023, with subsequent trials planned.

The project involves the construction of a 200MW facility in the western part of Xinjiang, which will include a 10MW/20MWh energy storage system. This development aims to provide stable electricity supply and support local energy needs.

According to project representatives, the installation will utilize 545W high-efficiency solar panels, achieving an energy conversion efficiency of up to 21.3%. This technology aims to enhance the overall output and sustainability of the energy system.

The total electricity generation capacity from this project is projected to reach 3.67 billion kilowatt-hours annually, which is equivalent to the carbon offset of approximately 23 million tons of CO2 emissions. This will contribute significantly towards establishing a greener energy framework in the region.

The project is designed to meet the growing energy demands of the region while adhering to strict environmental standards. The focus is on utilizing local resources effectively and promoting a sustainable energy model.

In summary, the “Green Sea” project in Xinjiang represents a significant step towards renewable energy development, with a commitment to environmentally friendly practices and innovative technologies. This initiative not only aims to boost the local economy but also to contribute positively to the global climate efforts.
