
China’s Steel Industry! Multiple departments release important documents — China Steel News Today: June 17, 2019
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology collaborated with various departments to issue the “Artificial Intelligence + Manufacturing” special action plan. This series of documents aims to provide guidelines for the future development of China’s steel industry.
The “Artificial Intelligence + Manufacturing” action plan was released following a meeting among the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Internet Information Office, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Commerce, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and the National Bureau of Statistics. The plan consists of seven key points, with 21 specific measures designed to promote the application of artificial intelligence technology in manufacturing enterprises.
It emphasizes among other things the importance of enhancing the production efficiency of steel and processing enterprises, as well as improving sustainable development and environmental protection practices.
Each department is urged to focus on the following key areas:
- Strengthening the integration of artificial intelligence in the manufacturing sector.
- Fostering a collaborative environment between manufacturing and AI technology.
- Promoting the development of intelligent manufacturing systems and enhancing the capabilities of traditional sectors.
- Encouraging the use of AI in resource management, production control, and supply chain optimization.
- Establishing a robust evaluation and monitoring system for AI applications in manufacturing.
By 2026, the aim is to have a significant level of AI integration in the manufacturing sector, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness on a global scale.
Each of the departments involved is tasked with ensuring progress in their respective areas, encouraging enterprises to adopt AI technologies and smart manufacturing practices. This will be assessed through a combination of performance metrics and regulatory frameworks.
