Zhontian Steel Group has partnered with Far East Storage to establish a zero-carbon factory demonstration project. On April 24, 2025, the 10MW/20MWh energy storage station project of Zhontian Steel Group (Nantong) Co., Ltd. was connected to the grid during a ceremony held at their Nantong facility. This project utilizes the Far East Storage’s liquid-cooled energy storage container PowerSTROM 5000, featuring high-capacity 314Ah battery cells and 104S longPack technology. The container has been designed with a single-side door, enhancing its capacity and efficiency while minimizing the footprint.
The 20-foot container offers a capacity of up to 5.0159MWh and is equipped with an intelligent energy management system, making it suitable for various applications such as wind-solar storage, shared power stations, or large-scale user-side energy storage. The operational strategy of the 10MW/20MWh energy storage station employs a two-charge two-discharge method, funded by the owner. It uses first-class energy efficiency and C5 corrosion-resistant equipment, ensuring the station’s economic viability, safety, and reliable operation.
This project supports the company in optimizing its energy structure, enhancing energy utilization efficiency, and reducing energy consumption and costs. It aligns with national goals for green development and sustainable growth, facilitating the transition to greener practices. The integration of the energy storage system with renewable energy generation significantly increases the share of renewable energy in the steel industry’s energy consumption, thus decreasing reliance on traditional energy sources and lowering carbon emissions, contributing to the achievement of the “dual carbon” goals. Far East Storage, with its reliable products and services, provides sustainable energy assurance for Zhontian Steel. Together, they leverage technology to drive the green transformation of the steel industry.
