Zhejiang Hongyuan Knitting Co., Ltd. Connects 500kW/1075kWh User-Side Energy Storage Project to Grid

Zhejiang

On April 17, it was reported that Zhejiang Hongyuan Knitting Co., Ltd. successfully connected its 500kW/1075kWh user-side energy storage project to the grid. The project utilizes lithium iron phosphate energy storage technology and features a new energy storage system with a capacity of 500kW/1075kWh. This system includes various components such as measurement devices, distribution systems, fire safety systems, battery management systems, lighting systems, and protective facilities. The stored electricity will be used for the company’s own consumption, employing a peak shaving and valley filling strategy for self-storage and self-use.

In related news, the Hainan Provincial Development and Reform Commission announced on April 17 a notification regarding the promotion of high-quality development in distributed photovoltaic power generation. The document states that for general industrial and commercial distributed photovoltaic projects that utilize surplus electricity for self-consumption, the percentage of self-consumed electricity should not be less than 50% of total generation.

On April 14, the largest user-side energy storage project in Nanchong, Sichuan, was officially launched, with a storage capacity of 1827 kWh. This project, supported by the State Grid Nanchong Power Supply Company, is expected to save approximately 200,000 yuan in electricity costs annually.

Recent research conducted by EUPD Research and Anker has revealed that the combination of balcony photovoltaic systems and energy storage can reduce household electricity costs by 64%. A 2kW plug-and-play balcony photovoltaic system paired with a 2kWh storage battery can achieve this reduction, with an investment payback period of just 4 years.

On April 15, the Jilin Provincial Energy Bureau issued a development plan for new energy storage, stating that by 2027, the scale of new energy storage should reach no less than 1GW, with an annual charge and discharge cycle of 300 times.

Furthermore, the Jiangxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission announced on April 16 its support for the healthy and orderly development of independent energy storage. The notice emphasizes the inclusion of independent storage in the market entity category, encouraging participation in spot markets and long-term electricity contracts.

In Guangdong, a significant milestone in power sector reform has been achieved, transitioning from a system of “only decreasing prices” to a more dynamic pricing model that allows for both increases and decreases in electricity prices.

Additionally, on April 16, Ganfeng Lithium Co., Ltd. announced its commitment to advancing the commercial application of solid-state batteries in collaboration with international automotive companies.

On April 15, a strategic cooperation framework agreement was signed between China Energy Engineering Group and the Urumqi Municipal Government, aiming to enhance local energy storage capabilities.

Finally, on April 16, it was reported that the Saudi Electricity Company has launched the second phase of a battery energy storage system project, planning a total installed capacity of 2.5GW with an investment exceeding 67.3 billion Saudi Riyals.
