Zeiss Unveils Cutting-Edge Testing Technology at the 2025 China International Battery Exhibition to Support High-Quality Development of the Global New Energy Industry

Shanghai, May 16, 2025 /PR Newswire/ — From May 15 to 17, 2025, Zeiss, a global leader in optical and optoelectronic technologies, showcased its comprehensive quality solutions for the new energy battery sector at the 2025 China International Battery Exhibition (CIBF2025). During the event, Zeiss highlighted five innovative testing technologies that enhance battery manufacturing quality and drive the industry towards a “zero defects” goal.

At the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center, Zeiss’s Industrial Quality Solutions division presented its theme “In-Depth Exploration of Batteries” at Booth T005 in Hall 10. The company offered a complete chain of technologies, covering everything from microscopic material analysis to macroscopic dimension measurement. Key solutions included:

  • An online defect detection system based on X-Ray technology, capable of accurately identifying issues related to battery alignment and foreign objects;
  • The ZEISS METROTOM 1500 CT system, which enables non-destructive testing of battery cells with a detection miss rate of less than 0.01%;
  • The EVO scanning electron microscope, which quickly analyzes the microscopic structure of materials;
  • The ZEISS Axio Zoom.V16 optical microscope for automated detection of electrode burrs;
  • And the ZEISS T-SCAN hawk2 laser scanning technology that ensures precision in the dimensional tolerances of battery cells.

Chen Tao, the global head of Zeiss’s Industrial Quality Solutions for the automotive and new energy sectors, stated, “The new energy industry is increasingly demanding in terms of battery safety and performance, and we are committed to helping our clients overcome quality bottlenecks.” In recent years, Zeiss has combined 2D and 3D non-destructive testing with deep learning algorithms, reducing defect identification speeds to milliseconds and enabling numerous companies to achieve a production yield of over 99%. Their solutions have been implemented in markets across China, the United States, and France, and this year, Zeiss contributed to the development of the Automotive Industry Quality White Paper to set new industry standards.

During the exhibition, Zeiss signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Chinese battery manufacturer Ruin New Energy, focusing on upgrading testing technologies, quality control in high-speed production, and the development of new materials. Xu Fenglan, co-founder of Ruin, stated that this collaboration will accelerate their global expansion and help achieve their goal of becoming a benchmark for high-quality intelligent manufacturing. Hou Shijun, head of sales for Zeiss’s Industrial Quality Solutions in China, emphasized that this partnership represents “a fusion of global experience and local innovation,” enhancing the international competitiveness of Chinese new energy enterprises.

With a history spanning 179 years, the German technology company Zeiss continues to invest in research and development in the new energy sector, covering critical areas such as lithium battery material characterization and rapid testing of battery cells. Its comprehensive quality solutions have established deep collaborations with leading automotive companies worldwide, promoting the transition toward green mobility.
