Two years have allowed Xiaomi to achieve what typically takes ten years in the industry! The new generation of the Xiaomi SU7 comes standard with laser radar assistance.
During the launch event held tonight, Lei Jun discussed the driving assistance features of the Xiaomi SU7. He highlighted that last November, Xiaomi introduced an enhanced version of HAD, which has received significantly positive feedback. As of now, the number of active users has reached 92.8%, totaling over 560,000 users, with a cumulative driving distance of 549 million kilometers and parking assistance utilized 52 million times.
The new generation SU7 features a complete hardware upgrade, equipping all models with laser radar, 4D millimeter-wave radar, and the NVIDIA Thor chip with 700T computing power. Lei Jun noted that this configuration is comparable to many competitors’ Max and Ultra models. Additionally, the software architecture has been upgraded to the XLA cognitive model. Lei Jun elaborated on this architecture: the X represents multimodal cognitive input, which not only includes video, radar, and navigation data but also integrates sound and physical AI data. This enhances the model’s overall understanding of the real world. The L signifies the incorporation of intelligent language, while the A represents the execution process, indicating a shift from data-driven to cognition-driven paradigms in Xiaomi’s driving assistance system.
In complex scenarios, the system can reason quickly and clearly. Combined with a world model and continuous reinforcement learning iterations, this will provide users with a safer and more relaxed driving experience. For instance, when encountering large obstacles like roadblocks, the system can effectively execute detour strategies, such as changing lanes to the left when road construction is ahead. Moreover, many operations can be completed through voice commands, allowing users to instruct the vehicle to maintain distance from larger vehicles or change lanes.
Notably, the new generation SU7 has also launched the industry’s first “parking space-level” navigation in shopping mall basements, currently supporting over 3000 shopping centers. Lei Jun expressed great confidence in Xiaomi’s HAD driving assistance, stating that in the past two years, the Xiaomi HAD team has released three major versions. This achievement signifies that in just two years, the team has accomplished what many competitors might take five or even ten years to achieve.
