On May 13, the World Economic Forum’s 2025 Industry Strategy Meeting took place in London, UK. This significant global event featured 28 closed-door sessions and welcomed 360 representatives from 22 industry communities associated with the World Economic Forum.

During the meeting, participants thoroughly reviewed the outcomes of the 2025 Winter Davos Forum and engaged in discussions regarding the agenda for the 2026 Winter Davos Forum. A key focus of the meeting was the decarbonization transition within the energy sector.

The conference centered on four major themes: “Driving New Business Models and Industry Transformation,” “Enhancing Corporate Capabilities to Promote Human-Centric and Resilient Growth,” “Accelerating Energy Transition and Decarbonization,” and “Innovating for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth.” In the oil and gas community discussions, representatives delved into critical topics such as the impacts of current geopolitical and geoeconomic uncertainties on the industry, as well as the key policy drivers for essential energy transition projects.

During a specialized session focusing on “Decarbonization Challenges in Hard-to-Abate Industries,” participants discussed the profound effects of shifting geopolitical landscapes on corporate decarbonization strategies and how companies can proactively adjust their strategies.

This was the first time that China National Petroleum Corporation was invited to attend the meeting. The company sent relevant officials from its North America and Europe Division to participate in both the oil and gas community session and the specialized session on decarbonization challenges, sharing their practical experiences and strategic insights on industry transformation, energy innovation, and sustainable development.
