What information do I need to submit for a Time of Sale report

To submit a Time of Sale report for a Clean Vehicle, you will need to provide the following information:

  1. Vehicle Information:

    • VIN (Vehicle Identification Number): Enter the 17-digit VIN without spaces or dashes.
    • Eligibility Confirmation: The IRS Energy Credits Online tool provides real-time eligibility confirmation based on the VIN.
  2. Buyer Information:

    • Name: Use the buyer’s legal name as shown on official identification, generally matching Social Security Administration records.
    • Identification Number: Select and enter an applicable identification number such as an EIN, ITIN, or SSN without spaces or dashes.
  3. Seller/Dealer Information:

    • Registration Status: Ensure your business is registered on the IRS Energy Credits Online system before submitting reports.
  4. Transaction Details:

    • Date of Sale: Reports must be submitted within 3 calendar days of the sale date, unless you are submitting a corrected report which may take longer.

Remember, if you missed the 3-day window, you can now submit previously unfiled reports through the IRS ECO Tool, beginning December 10, 2024.
