China’s First Large-Scale Lithium-Sodium Hybrid Energy Storage Station Commences Operation
On May 25, China’s first large-scale lithium-sodium hybrid energy storage station, the Baoci Energy Storage Station, officially began operations in Qiubei County, Yunnan Province. This facility is part of the national new energy storage pilot demonstration project and has a total installed capacity of 200 MW/400 MWh. It is projected to adjust 580 million kWh of electricity annually, sufficient to supply nearly 270,000 households. Notably, 98% of this energy comes from green sources. The project was funded and constructed by China Southern Power Grid Energy Storage Company, starting construction in October 2024, and underwent testing and connection to the grid before its official launch in May.
Inner Mongolia’s First Off-Grid Wind Power Project Achieves Full Capacity Operation
On May 23, the first off-grid wind power project in Inner Mongolia, operated by the China Three Gorges Corporation, achieved full capacity grid connection. Located in the city of Ordos, this project has a total capacity of 300 MW, featuring 48 wind turbines of 6.25 MW each, along with a new 45 MW × 4 hours energy storage system. It is expected to generate approximately 870 million kWh of electricity annually, which is equivalent to saving about 260,000 tons of standard coal and reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 710,000 tons.
Huadian Yunnan Dali Centralized Shared Energy Storage Project Begins Full Capacity Operation
On May 25 at 3 PM, the Huadian Yunnan Company’s first energy storage station, the Heqing Centralized Shared Energy Storage Project, achieved full capacity operation. This project, located in the county’s economic development zone, represents Tianeng Holding Group’s first user-side lithium battery energy storage EPC project of over 100 MWh. First Industrial and Commercial Energy Storage Project in Zhoukou Officially Launches
