Anhui He County Tian Neng Battery Base 37.5MW/100.5MWh User-side Energy Storage Station Connected to the Grid
On May 10, the 37.5MW/100.5MWh lithium iron phosphate user-side energy storage project at the Tian Neng Battery Base in He County, Ma’anshan City, Anhui Province was successfully connected to the grid. This project, constructed by Zhejiang Rongneng Power Engineering Co., Ltd. and invested by Zhejiang Tianwang Smart Energy Co., Ltd., utilizes lithium iron phosphate battery technology. The operational model of this user-side storage station is “peak shaving and valley filling,” which effectively regulates power supply and demand, leveraging price differences to reduce electricity costs for enterprises and enhance their competitiveness.
Shanghai Changxing Island 10MW/20MWh User-side Energy Storage Project Under Construction
On May 8, the construction of the 10MW/20MWh user-side energy storage project at Shanghai Changxing Island commenced, managed by China COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry. This storage station consists of four storage systems, four prefabricated warehouses, and four booster transformers, with a construction period of approximately five months. When the grid has sufficient power supply at lower prices, the energy storage station converts the grid’s AC power to DC power for storage in batteries. During times of peak demand or high prices, the system inversely converts the stored DC power back to AC power for use in the grid. Once operational, it will alleviate the load pressure on COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry and optimize electricity resource allocation to better meet the power demands of large enterprises in the shipping sector.
600MW/1.2GWh! The Largest Single Centralized Shared Energy Storage Project in Yunnan Connected to the Grid
Recently, the 600MW/1200MWh energy storage station in Baoshan, Yunnan, officially began operations, making it the largest centralized shared energy storage project in Yunnan Province. This massive “power bank,” located in the western Yunnan plateau, is expected to deliver over 300 million kilowatt-hours of peak shaving annually, providing strong support for regional energy structure optimization and green low-carbon development.
Gansu’s First 100MW Independent Energy Storage Station Completed
On April 29, Gansu Province’s first 100MW independent energy storage station—Tongwei Yiheng Chen 100MW/400MWh—was officially completed in Dongguan Village, Maying Town, Tongwei County. The project, invested by Gansu Tongwei Yiheng Chen New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., has a total investment of 800 million yuan and occupies 39 acres. With a total installed capacity of 100MW/400MWh using lithium battery technology, it is a key project for the clean energy industry, also driving the development of upstream and downstream industries such as energy storage equipment manufacturing and operation services.
200MW/400MWh Independent Energy Storage Project Signed in Jiangxi
On May 13, the government of Hukou County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, signed an investment agreement with Shanghai Ronghe Yuanchu Energy Co., Ltd. for the establishment of a 200MW/400MWh independent energy storage project. The total investment for this project is expected to reach 500 million yuan, aiming to construct a standalone energy storage station. Once fully operational, it is projected to generate an annual output value of 50 million yuan and annual taxes of approximately 6.5 million yuan.
Inner Mongolia Bayannur 100MW/400MWh Independent Energy Storage Project Commences
On May 13, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the 100MW/400MWh energy storage project at the 500kV substation in Delingshan Town, Urat Middle Banner, Bayannur City, Inner Mongolia, managed by Baneng Group’s Inner Mongolia Ne’er Energy Development Co., Ltd. The project will utilize lithium iron phosphate storage technology and an intelligent energy management system, providing efficient peak regulation, frequency adjustment, and emergency backup functions. Once completed, it will effectively alleviate local renewable energy consumption pressure and enhance grid flexibility and stability. This marks Baneng Group’s first independent energy storage project.
200MW/400MWh Battery Storage Demonstration Project Completed in Yunnan
Recently, the 200MW/400MWh lithium-ion battery storage demonstration project in Xinping County, Yunnan Province, was successfully completed. As one of the first pilot demonstration projects for new energy storage in Yunnan, it accelerates the province’s development in energy storage and represents a critical milestone for regional energy transformation.
1.2GW/3.9GWh! Largest Energy Storage Station in the Southern Hemisphere Signed
Recently, a strategic cooperation signing ceremony was held in Suzhou between China Storage Technology, Inovance Technology, and Australia’s Genaspi Energy Group Pty Ltd. The parties announced a deep collaboration on the Bundey project, the largest energy storage project in the Southern Hemisphere, with a capacity of 1.2GW/3.9GWh, and jointly submitted core technology solutions for certification by the Australian National Grid. This cooperation marks a milestone in Sino-Australian collaboration in the new energy sector, injecting strong momentum into global energy transition efforts. Once completed, the Bundey project will significantly enhance Australia’s renewable energy absorption capacity, supporting its emission reduction goals for 2030.
7.5MW/15MWh! Zero Carbon Industrial Park Project in Zhuzhou Connected to the Grid
The Hunan CRRC Times Electric Zero Carbon Industrial Park project has successfully connected to the grid. This project achieved rapid delivery in 37 days and was successfully put into operation on April 30. The project innovatively employs building-integrated photovoltaic technology, utilizing rooftop solar panels to provide green energy for the park with a total installed capacity of approximately 9.93MWp, complemented by a 7.5MW/15MWh commercial energy storage station. Through a “two-charge and two-discharge” smart control strategy, it is expected to achieve an annual peak shaving volume of 7 million kilowatt-hours, while also increasing the self-use rate of distributed solar power to 100%.
715MW/1415MWh! Shanxi Province’s Key Engineering Projects Announced for 2025
On May 11, the government of Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province, released a notice regarding the list of key engineering projects for 2025. This includes three energy storage projects: a 100MW photovoltaic-storage integrated project in Huairen City (15MW/15MWh storage), a 300MW/600MWh shared energy storage station by Xinhua Power in Shuozhou, and a 400MW/800MWh independent energy storage project in Shan Yin, totaling 715MW/1415MWh.
60MWh! First “Electric Storage + Water Cold Storage” Smart Energy Hub Project in Zhejiang Commences
On May 13, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the 60MWh electric storage and water cold storage project led by Zhejiang Jinyi Industrial Investment Group Co., Ltd. This project, located in the core industrial belt of Jinyi New Area, is the first smart energy demonstration project in Zhejiang Province to deeply integrate “electric storage and water cold storage.” The project will optimize peak shaving and emergency support, creating a comprehensive energy solution.
First Supercapacitor Hybrid Energy Storage Frequency Regulation Project in Shaanxi Completed
On May 9, Shaanxi Province’s first “supercapacitor + lithium battery” hybrid storage frequency regulation project, contracted by Xi’an Thermal Engineering Institute, was completed and put into operation at Huaneng Tongchuan Zhaojin Coal Power Co., Ltd. This project provides innovative solutions to enhance the operational stability of the Shaanxi power grid and marks a significant step in the province’s efforts to integrate flexible thermal power transformation with new energy storage technologies.
100MW Wind + Storage Integrated Demonstration Project Fully Connected to the Grid
Recently, the 100MW “wind + storage” integrated demonstration project in Dicun Township, Julu County, Xingtai City, Hebei Province, constructed by China Power Construction Hebei Engineering Company, achieved full capacity grid connection. This mixed tower wind project represents a significant technological breakthrough and business innovation in the new energy sector, enhancing the structural stability and environmental adaptability of the turbines. The project is expected to generate up to 21.853 million kilowatt-hours annually, saving approximately 69,300 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 254,200 tons each year, contributing positively to regional air quality improvement and green low-carbon development.
100MW/200MWh! Xiangxiang Economic Development Zone Energy Storage Station Fully Connected to the Grid
On May 15, the 100MW/200MWh energy storage station in Xiangxiang Economic Development Zone, Hunan Province, successfully achieved full capacity grid connection after installation and commissioning. The project, provided by Nandu Power Supply, occupies an area of 13,000 square meters and features 60 container-style battery cabins and 30 PCS AC/DC conversion cabins, making it one of the largest energy storage stations in Hunan Province.
First Electrochemical Energy Storage Project Fully Connected to the Grid at Jiangsu Power Jinxia Base
Recently, the energy storage system associated with the Yangjiaba photovoltaic project at the Jinxia Base was fully connected to the grid, marking the first electrochemical storage project established at this base. This energy storage system utilizes high-voltage liquid-cooled lithium iron phosphate batteries, optimizing cell layout and integration technology to enhance the capacity of individual battery cabins to 5 megawatt-hours, with a total capacity of 37.6 megawatt-hours. Compared to traditional battery layouts, this configuration improves volume energy density by 52% and mass energy density by 22%, effectively reducing project construction costs. Additionally, a three-level linked fire protection system ensures rapid response and safety, providing a solid guarantee for the safe and stable operation of the energy storage system.
