County Commissioners Introduced to New Owners of Friendsville Mine Solar Project

Plans for a 5,000-acre solar farm in Wabash County are still moving forward, despite a change in ownership of the company managing the project. During the Wabash County Commissioner meeting on Monday, John Jones from R3 Renewables announced that his company has sold a majority stake to RWE Clean Energy.

Matthew Spaccapaniccia of RWE highlighted that his company operates globally and specializes in various forms of energy. He expressed optimism that the necessary applications will be submitted to local officials by this fall.

Back in May 2022, plans were unveiled to construct the 5,000-acre solar farm on land that was previously mined for coal, including areas from the former Friendsville Mine.
