Vietnam will host the Global Partnering for Green Goals (P4G) Summit for the first time, from April 14 to 17, 2025, in Hanoi. This announcement was made during a press conference held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 8, where Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu provided details about the summit. The theme for the summit is “Human-Centered Sustainable Green Transformation”.
Deputy Minister <b>Vu</b> emphasized that green and sustainable development has always been a priority for international and regional organizations, as well as an integral part of the socio-economic development strategies of countries worldwide. As one of the six nations severely affected by climate change and rising sea levels, Vietnam has actively engaged in international environmental protection and global governance efforts to combat climate change in recent years. Vietnam has committed to achieving <b>net-zero emissions by 2050</b> and reducing total methane emissions by at least <b>30% by 2030</b>.
To fulfill these commitments, the Vietnamese government has implemented various policies and measures, ensuring that economic growth does not come at the expense of ecological preservation and social equity. In this new era of development, Vietnam is committed to a policy of rapid and sustainable growth while honoring its environmental pledges. In fact, Vietnam has been recognized internationally as a model for successfully achieving the Millennium Development Goals.
During the summit, there will be a <b>green growth exhibition</b>, high-level forums on the theme, a dialogue session for entrepreneurs, and five ministerial discussions. These sessions will focus on topics such as resource mobilization, food systems transformation, innovative solutions, human resource training, and the transition to efficient and sustainable energy.
The summit will produce several significant documents, including the <b>Hanoi Declaration</b> on <b>"Human-Centered Sustainable Green Transformation"</b> and a declaration from P4G regarding enhancing cooperation with multilateral organizations in the fields of green transformation and sustainable development.
It is expected that approximately <b>800 to 1,000</b> representatives will attend the summit, including leaders from P4G member countries and representatives from influential nations, international organizations, businesses, and investment funds in the realm of green growth and sustainable development.
P4G was established in <b>2017</b> in Denmark with the aim of promoting green growth and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals. The partnership includes <b>nine member countries</b>: Denmark, Vietnam, South Korea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, the Netherlands, Indonesia, and South Africa, along with five partner organizations: the <a href='https://www.wri.org/'>World Resources Institute</a> (WRI), the <a href='https://gggi.org/'>Global Green Growth Institute</a> (GGGI), <a href='https://www.c40.org/'>C40 Cities</a>, the <a href='https://www.weforum.org/'>World Economic Forum</a> (WEF), and the <a href='https://ifcext.ifc.org/'>International Finance Corporation</a> (IFC).
The main agenda of P4G focuses on reducing food loss and waste, adapting intelligent agriculture to climate change, sustainable water resources, renewable energy, and zero-emission transportation.
