Unlocking the Blue Ocean of Photovoltaics in South China! The World Photovoltaic Exhibition will kick off in August, seizing the trillion-dollar opportunities in clean energy!
The 17th Guangzhou International Photovoltaic Energy Storage and Smart Energy Expo 2025 is themed “Integration of Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Empowering a Zero-Carbon Future, Smart Energy Driving Industrial Upgrades.” In the context of the rapid transformation of the global energy structure, China is fully advancing the implementation of the “14th Five-Year Plan for Modern Energy System” to align with its “dual carbon” strategic goals.
By 2025, the construction of a new power system will enter a critical stage. With the implementation of new policies such as the “Management Norms for New Energy Storage Projects,” the photovoltaic energy storage industry is poised for explosive growth. Data indicates that China’s photovoltaic installed capacity is expected to exceed 800 million kilowatts, and new energy storage installations will surpass 80 million kilowatts, pushing the industry scale beyond 2 trillion yuan, marking a deep transformation in the energy revolution.
In this context, northern regions are leveraging large desert photovoltaic bases to create integrated demonstration projects of “source-grid-load-storage,” while southern regions focus on distributed photovoltaic and energy storage systems to build urban-level virtual power plants. The central and western regions are promoting new models of “photovoltaic + ecological governance,” achieving both economic and ecological benefits. Emerging business models such as industrial and commercial energy storage, integrated photovoltaic and energy storage charging, and hydrogen storage are flourishing, opening up trillion-level market spaces for the energy industry.
As the most influential photovoltaic energy storage industry event in the Asia-Pacific region, the 2025 Guangzhou Energy Storage Expo will officially launch on August 8. The exhibition will focus on “Integration of Photovoltaic and Energy Storage, Green Innovation, Smart Energy.” It will be based in the core engine of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and will feature six major exhibition areas: photovoltaic technology innovation, new energy storage systems, smart grid equipment, new energy vehicle charging and swapping, hydrogen energy storage, and BIPV (Building-integrated Photovoltaics).
The event will gather over 500 industry-leading enterprises, showcasing cutting-edge photovoltaic technologies such as TOPCon, HJT, and perovskite tandem cells, as well as innovative solutions like liquid-cooled energy storage, sodium-ion batteries, and flywheel energy storage, creating a comprehensive display platform for the entire industry chain from generation to user.
Policy Empowerment: The Industry Welcomes a Golden Opportunity Period
The current energy transition faces key challenges, including difficulties in renewable energy consumption, increasing pressure on grid peak regulation, and high electricity costs for industrial and commercial users. With the full implementation of the “Regulations on New Energy Storage Participation in Electricity Market Transactions” in 2025, and the deepening of time-of-use electricity pricing mechanisms, the economic viability of photovoltaic energy storage systems is expected to improve significantly. The latest data from the National Energy Administration shows that the internal rate of return for photovoltaic energy storage projects generally exceeds 8%, and the investment payback period for user-side energy storage has shortened to less than 5 years.
This year’s expo will feature a special area dedicated to “Zero Carbon Park Solutions,” showcasing innovative applications such as direct and flexible photovoltaic energy storage technology, virtual power plant platforms, and smart energy management systems. Huawei Digital Energy will globally launch its next-generation smart string energy storage system, while CATL will introduce a 300Ah ultra-large capacity energy storage cell, and Sungrow Power will present a model of its integrated photovoltaic and energy storage smart energy station, fully reflecting the cross-sector integration trend of “new energy + energy storage.”
Technological Breakthroughs Driving Industrial Value Reconstruction
Under the market pattern dominated by N-type technology, the industry is entering a new round of technological iteration: Longi Green Energy is set to mass-produce HBC cells with an efficiency of 26.8%; Trina Solar will showcase 700W+ Supreme N-type modules; and GCL-Poly will present results from its pilot line for perovskite-heterojunction tandem cells. Innovations in the energy storage sector are equally impressive, with BYD unveiling the world’s first vehicle-grade blade energy storage system, and China Innovation Aviation introducing a 5C ultra-fast charging energy storage battery. Envision Energy will release solutions for smart liquid-cooled energy storage power stations.
Digital empowerment is becoming a new focus: TBEA will present a new energy power forecasting system, Goldwind will demonstrate a “source-grid-load-storage” collaborative control platform, and Chint Group will introduce smart operation and maintenance robots for photovoltaic power stations. Over 20 technical forums will be held during the expo, delving into hot topics such as integrated design of photovoltaic and energy storage, commercial models of industrial and commercial energy storage, and hydrogen energy storage system integration.
Global Collaboration: Building an Industrial Ecosystem
This year’s expo will achieve three groundbreaking upgrades: the establishment of an international exhibition area, attracting over 30 international organizations including Germany’s TÜV, the USA’s UL, and Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power; the innovative creation of an “application scenario experience hall” that replicates zero-carbon buildings and integrated photovoltaic energy storage charging parking lots; and the launch of a “Hundred Cities Thousand Enterprises” connection plan, organizing over 200 energy groups, industrial parks, and municipal units for targeted procurement connections.
So far, leading enterprises such as Longi, Jinko, Tongwei, BYD, EVE Energy, and Kehua Data have confirmed their participation, with expectations to attract over 80,000 professional attendees. Special activities such as the “New Energy Investment Summit,” “Energy Storage Project Roadshow,” and “Overseas Market Development Forum” will also be organized to provide a one-stop platform for dialogue between government and enterprises, technology exchange, and business cooperation.
A Zero-Carbon Future: Redefining the Energy Landscape
With the mission of “Driving Energy Transformation, Sharing a Green Future,” the 2025 Guangzhou Energy Storage Expo will present three key value dimensions: a technological dimension focusing on N-type iteration and energy storage safety, a market dimension exploring the blue oceans of industrial and commercial applications, and an ecological dimension constructing a collaborative development system for photovoltaic, energy storage, and hydrogen energy.
During the exhibition, authoritative organizations such as the National Development and Reform Commission Energy Research Institute and the China Photovoltaic Industry Association will jointly release a “Photovoltaic Energy Storage Integration White Paper,” revealing the development path for the industry over the next decade. From August 8 to 10, the Guangzhou Import and Export Fair Complex will transform into a showcase for innovative new energy solutions. Here, not only will groundbreaking products be unveiled, but the photovoltaic energy storage industry will also witness a historic shift from “policy-driven” to “value-driven.”
We invite global energy companies, electric power groups, investment institutions, and research institutes to join us at this grand event, collaborating to open a new era of photovoltaic energy storage integration and writing a new chapter in energy transformation!
