Ukrainian forces have significantly increased their use of robots for operational and logistical support tasks on the front lines. The conflict in Ukraine is currently recognized as one of the most critical modern wars. Despite being outnumbered by Russian forces, Ukraine has effectively utilized drones and robots to carry out various missions.
According to a report from Euromaidan Press, the number of robots used by Ukrainian forces has rapidly expanded, growing from 67 units in November 2025 to 167 units by March 2026. In just March 2026, the Ukrainian Ground Robot System (GRC) successfully completed over 9,000 missions, encompassing both combat and logistical support.
The frequency of missions performed by Ukraine’s robotic units has increased significantly. In November 2025, approximately 2,900 missions were executed, while in January 2026, this number rose to over 7,000. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are increasingly deploying ground robot systems in high-risk areas on the front lines to replace personnel in combat roles.
Data from the DELTA operational system indicates that since the beginning of 2026, ground robot systems have completed around 32,500 missions. These systems are utilized for ammunition resupply, cargo transportation, and medical evacuations, thereby reducing risks to personnel. The Ministry of Defense has identified the transition of frontline logistical support to robotic platforms as a critical priority.
As of March 2026, a total of 167 units were employing ground robotic operational systems, a substantial increase from 67 units in November 2025. The reports highlight that the operation centers for ground drones resemble high-tech command hubs. Operators use batteries, charging stations, portable power sources, and communication systems—including radios, antennas, and relay equipment—to monitor, control, and maintain the systems in real time.
Operators are equipped with electronic warfare tools, maintenance toolkits, and tactical gear. Each ground platform is fitted with day-and-night cameras, communication systems, and data links to ensure effective operations under any conditions. Notably, the Ukrainian 3rd Assault Brigade has utilized the Droid TW 12.7 unmanned ground system to replace an infantry position, successfully holding it for 1.5 months.
In summary, the integration of robotic technology into the Ukrainian military strategy has proven to be a significant advancement in their operational capabilities against Russian forces.
