Tianhe Energy has officially signed an agreement with Ireland’s Aer Soléir to collaboratively build a large-scale battery energy storage station in the Rondissone area of Turin, Italy, with a capacity of 250MW/1000MWh. This project is not only one of the largest energy storage projects currently in Italy but also signifies a critical breakthrough for Chinese energy storage enterprises in the European market. It will provide crucial support for the stable operation of the Italian power grid and the country’s renewable energy development goals.

On January 23, 2026, Tianhe Energy and Aer Soléir officially signed the cooperation agreement. The signing of this project marks another significant milestone for Chinese energy storage companies in the high-end European market and represents Italy’s firm step towards establishing a new power system centered around renewable energy.

The Rondissone storage project is currently one of the largest battery storage initiatives in Italy and Europe, holding milestone significance for Tianhe Energy’s strategic layout in the Italian and broader European markets. The project will utilize Tianhe Energy’s new generation Elementa Jingang 2 Pro liquid-cooled battery storage system, integrating advanced conversion systems, medium-voltage prefabricated cabins, and power station controllers to ensure exceptional performance and robust grid support capabilities. The successful signing of this project further solidifies Tianhe Energy’s position as a trusted partner in the large-scale energy storage sector in Europe.

This project’s advancement is closely linked to Italy’s urgent energy transition needs. Industry data indicates that the demand for electricity in Italy’s power grid will reach 328 TWh by 2025, growing steadily at an average rate of 3.3% annually, and is expected to rise to 393 TWh by 2030. In this context, Italy is accelerating its shift towards renewable energy, primarily focusing on solar and wind power, making energy storage systems an essential infrastructure for ensuring grid stability and balancing intermittent power generation. To support this transition, the Italian government has introduced robust policy frameworks, including electricity storage capacity procurement mechanisms and capacity market auction systems, providing a clear commercial pathway for large-scale storage projects like this one. The Rondissone project successfully won a bid in Italy’s 2027 capacity market auction.

Tianhe Energy is not only providing advanced hardware for this project but also a comprehensive set of solutions covering the entire lifecycle. In addition to supplying the core energy storage systems, Tianhe Energy will offer a 20-year long-term service agreement, which includes preventive and corrective maintenance, spare parts management, round-the-clock remote technical support, extended warranty services, and performance guarantees. This one-stop service model aims to ensure that the power station maintains high reliability and economic returns throughout its operational cycle, thereby enhancing the reliability of the Italian power grid, reducing power curtailment rates, and ultimately supporting Italy in achieving its renewable energy development goals.
