The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Human Strength: Are We Becoming Stronger or Weaker?

Singapore’s AI Integration: Empowerment or Weakening?

In today’s world, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly integrated into our daily lives. From AI stock trading that operates around the clock to AI medical consultation bots that offer assistance at any time, the question arises: how will this technology affect human capabilities?

AI Glasses: Enhancing Daily Tasks

Capital958 DJ Lu Lianxuan, one of the hosts of the new current affairs series Meeting AI, is enthusiastic about various AI products. He particularly desires user-friendly AI glasses that can serve as teleprompters during presentations and provide navigation without needing to check a mobile phone. While the general public might see this as merely a change in devices, Dr. Li Dagong, a lecturer at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, explains that any machine capable of mimicking human functions such as seeing, hearing, speaking, thinking, and understanding falls under the definition of AI. Although current AI glasses are akin to screens that still rely on smartphones for commands, Lu hopes for future models that can fully replace phones and perform tasks like photography, communication, and payments.

AI in Sports: Precision Training

Basketball coach Lin Shijie showcased an AI-enhanced basketball court during the Meeting AI program. He installed ten AI cameras to capture real-time footage, collect data, and analyze player performance, including shooting positions, accuracy rates, and assists. This technology allows him to train players in a more objective and data-driven manner. For instance, if data indicates a player excels at attacking from the right side, he can focus training on improving their left-side scoring. However, Lin acknowledges that individual players have different physiques, experiences, and habits. Using data from NBA player Stephen Curry as a benchmark may not be realistic for all players. Thus, coaches must still rely on their knowledge and experience to customize training effectively.

Dr. Li believes that any country or institution that can harness AI will gain a significant advantage over time. Over the years, teams with AI support will show considerable improvement compared to those without such resources, a trend that is likely to be evident in education and white-collar professions as well.

Robotic Assistance for Mobility

Many elderly individuals suffer from knee pain, making walking and exercising challenging, similar to many stroke patients. The Meeting AI program highlighted the innovative possibilities offered by the Hypershell motion assistance robot. Users have reported that it feels like someone is lifting their feet for them, making movement effortless and adapting to their strength levels.

Leveraging AI for Personal Growth

Dr. Li envisions using OpenClaw as his all-day assistant, expressing a willingness to grant it permission to manage finances while setting risk limits. Coach Lin hopes AI can help prevent player injuries and extend their competitive careers, but he emphasizes that such AI systems must be affordable for non-professional teams to benefit as well. Lu Lianxuan wishes for AI to help verify information to avoid unintentionally providing incorrect data to listeners at the radio station. He even suggests that one AI could review another, ensuring more accurate results.

Lu is not concerned about becoming dependent on AI; instead, he believes that by delegating tasks to AI, humans can free up time and mental energy for travel, personal development, and assisting others, without fear of becoming weaker or less intelligent.

The new series Meeting AI will delve into the realms of education, fashion, lifestyle, and healthcare, exploring how AI is reshaping our lives. Starting March 7, the show will air every Saturday at 9 PM on Channel 8 and mewatch.
