2025 Asia-Pacific Power Summit Kicks Off Today
Taiwan Power Company is collaborating with international utilities to discuss the resilience of smart grids at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Power Summit, which began today.
In response to global trends such as renewable energy development and net-zero emissions, the enhancement of smart grid resilience has become a primary focus for power industry stakeholders worldwide. Taiwan Power Company, along with the Taiwan Smart Grid Industry Association (TSGIA), Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (TIER), and Moxa, has organized a three-day event titled the “2025 Asia-Pacific Power Summit.” The first day features discussions at the headquarters of Taiwan Power Company with various international power companies.
This summit brings together representatives from power companies in the Asia-Pacific region, including Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Australia, along with industry leaders, integrators, and technical experts. The goal is to exchange international technical know-how and practical experiences to accelerate the upgrade and smart transformation of power grids.
The theme of the event is “Strengthening the Resilience of Smart Grids.” Notable participants include executives from eight power companies such as Tokyo Electric Power Company, Kansai Electric Power Company, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Indonesia Power Company, and Endeavour Energy from Australia, as well as research institutions like the Electric Power Research Institute and SRP.
During the summit, Taiwan Power Company’s Vice President Wu Jinzhong delivered a keynote speech detailing the company’s plans to enhance the integration capacity of renewable energy while also improving power supply stability and grid resilience. He highlighted that from 2022 to 2024, Taiwan Power Company ranked second globally in the Smart Grid Index (SGI) of Singapore, reflecting its technological capabilities.
In recent years, Taiwan Power Company has continued to advance the integration of communication and information technology into the power grid. Through smart dispatching, power generation and grid management, distributed energy storage, demand response load management, and communication infrastructure, the company aims to optimize supply-demand regulation, improve monitoring and automation, and enhance the resilience of the power system, ensuring stable electricity supply and improved power quality.
To deepen practical experience sharing, Taiwan Power Company has also engaged in technical exchanges with Tokyo Electric Power Company and the Japanese communication company NESIC. This collaboration focuses on utilizing the Geographic Outage Management System (GeoOMS) during natural disasters to manage crisis situations and expedite restoration efforts. Additionally, discussions have been held with Korea Electric Power Corporation regarding grid stability and reliability.
Looking ahead, Taiwan Power Company aims to deepen its collaboration with international power companies in smart grid applications to jointly enhance the resilience of smart grids, achieve stable power supply, optimize energy utilization, and work towards net-zero emissions.
