Sweden at the Forefront of Sustainable Mobility
Sweden is uniquely positioned to lead the transition to sustainable mobility. However, the rapid advancements in battery technology and electrification require prompt strategic actions and enhanced international collaboration. Sweden has established a strong international reputation for competitive research across various battery technologies. The Swedish Energy Agency plays a pivotal role in this transition by supporting research, innovation, commercialization, and internationalization of sustainable energy solutions, thereby bolstering Sweden’s competitiveness.
As part of this initiative, the Swedish Energy Agency will participate in EVS38 – the Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition, taking place in Gothenburg from June 16 to 18. The agency will be featured as a partner in the Swedish pavilion, organized by the Vehicle Components Group (FKG), focusing on sustainable mobility and future energy solutions.
The pavilion at EVS38 will host a varied program, covering topics such as the Nordic battery value chain, funding opportunities for sustainable mobility, and presentations from innovative start-ups. Attendees will also have the chance to engage in networking events centered on battery technology. Additionally, the Swedish Energy Agency is hosting several international delegations to explore future collaborations and partnerships.
“We view EVS38 as an excellent platform to showcase Sweden’s expertise in the electrification of the transport sector. Our goal is to attract more international, innovative start-ups and scale-ups to join the Swedish innovation ecosystem, and together, accelerate the green transition,” states Verena Adamheit, Senior Business Developer at the Swedish Energy Agency.
Sweden has all the necessary conditions to take a leading role in the global shift towards sustainable mobility. With a predominantly fossil-free electricity mix and a robust environment for research and innovation, Sweden is well-equipped to attract investments and promote advancements in electrification and battery technology. The electrification of the transport sector and the establishment of a sustainable battery value chain are essential for achieving Sweden’s and the EU’s climate and industrial policy objectives. However, the global competition is fierce. To sustain and enhance its position, Sweden must pursue strategic initiatives and foster international cooperation.
