
Sungrow Launches its PowerTitan 3.0 Energy Storage System Platform

Sungrow, a global leader in inverter and energy storage system solutions, has officially launched its PowerTitan 3.0 Energy Storage System (ESS) Platform designed for utility-scale applications. Announced on June 12, 2025, this state-of-the-art platform is engineered to navigate the complexities of today’s clean energy landscape, offering unmatched flexibility, power density, intelligence, and safety.
The complete PowerTitan 3.0 portfolio is now available for immediate commercial deployment. This platform includes an integrated modular library of scenario-based functions, allowing all functional modules to be standardized and deployed according to specific scenario requirements without the need for redesign. This single platform supports various combinations for comprehensive global applications and transcends the limitations of fixed container sizes.
Initially available in three versions—10ft Flex (3.45MWh capacity), 20ft Class (6.9MWh capacity), and 30ft Plus (12.5MWh capacity)—the PowerTitan 3.0 offers support for energy durations ranging from 2 to 12 hours. It maintains stable performance in extreme environments, with operational capabilities from -40°C to +55°C (-40°F to +131°F) and at altitudes up to 5,000 meters (16,404 feet) without derating.
For projects that demand high capacity and cost-efficiency, the PowerTitan 3.0 Plus version features a robust 684Ah stacking large battery cell, capable of delivering up to 12.5MW/50MWh per AC block. This configuration makes it the world’s highest power density Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), with over 500kWh per square meter. The design allows for back-to-back installations with a compact 20mm spacing, significantly optimizing equipment layout. In a 1 GWh-scale project, the overall system design reduces land usage by 45 percent and cabling requirements by 10 percent, substantially lowering CAPEX.
The 684Ah stacking battery cell is a groundbreaking industry innovation, entering mass production for the first time. It boasts an impressive energy density of 448Wh per liter and an exceptional cycle life exceeding 15,000 cycles. To ensure safety, the cell incorporates pioneering Thermo-Electric Separation technology, which resets cell vents and internal pack exhaust channels, complemented by patented heat-insulating layers. This design prevents high-temperature gases from damaging battery components, halts gas propagation, and mitigates thermal runaway risks.
Additionally, the PowerTitan 3.0 features the industry’s first large-scale application of a fully liquid-cooled Silicon Carbide Power Conversion System (SiC PCS), offering a power capacity of 450kW per unit. This system achieves a maximum efficiency of 99.3 percent, with a system round-trip efficiency (RTE) of 93.5 percent, enabling full-power operation even in extreme heat conditions of 55°C, making it particularly suitable for high-temperature regions.
The PowerTitan 3.0 is designed for swift deployment, with pre-installed, pre-debugged block-level pre-integration and intelligent parameter configuration conducted at the factory. This allows for one-click automated configuration and inspection on-site, reducing deployment time by 17 days for a 1 GWh project.
The product also integrates intelligent functionalities, including Sungrow’s PowerBidder—an Electricity Market Trading System designed to minimize risks and enhance profitability from electricity trading operations. Another key feature is the PowerDoctor Operation & Maintenance (O&M) tool, which can predict over 30 fault types with over 99 percent diagnostic accuracy, facilitating proactive maintenance with guided repairs.
Sungrow’s PowerTitan 3.0 also incorporates the company’s Stem-Cell Grid-Forming Tech 2.0, which anticipates grid disturbances to ensure a proactive energy storage response. This product delivers synchronous renewables and energy storage, supports GW-scale black start capabilities, allows seamless mode switching between grid-following and grid-forming, adapts to wide-range SCR changes (1-40), and enables rapid response times of 20 milliseconds with symmetrical/asymmetrical phase angle jumps.
With these innovative features, the PowerTitan 3.0 supports rapid grid recovery, maximizes ancillary service revenue, and ensures reliability across all grid scenarios, including generation, transmission, microgrids, and consumption endpoints. Sungrow is committed to transforming complex requirements into quickly deployable solutions, maximizing value while eliminating redundancy.
