Sungrow Unveils the Revolutionary PowerTitan 3.0 Energy Storage System Platform

The PowerTitan 3.0 Energy Storage System Platform, available in 10ft Flex, 20ft Class, and 30ft Plus versions, supports durations ranging from 2 to 12 hours. Notably, the 30ft PowerTitan 3.0 Plus version stands as the world’s largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in terms of both capacity and energy density, reducing land footprint by 45% and cabling requirements by 10%. This system achieves record-breaking energy density with up to 684Ah stacking battery cells and offers 12.5MW/50MWh per AC block.

A significant innovation is the industry-first large-scale application of a fully liquid-cooled Silicon Carbide Power Conversion System (SiC PCS), which reaches a maximum efficiency of 99.3%, even in high-temperature environments.

### Key Innovations of PowerTitan 3.0

The PowerTitan 3.0 ESS Platform boasts an integrated modular library of scenario-based functions. All functional modules are standardized, allowing for deployment according to specific scenario requirements without the need for redesign. This single platform supports multiple combinations for comprehensive global applications, breaking away from the limitations of fixed container sizes.

Initially launched in three versions: the 10ft Flex (with a capacity of 3.45MWh), the 20ft Class (6.9MWh), and the 30ft Plus (12.5MWh), it is engineered to operate efficiently in extreme conditions, ranging from -40°C to +55°C (-40°F to +131°F) and at altitudes up to 5,000 meters (16,404 feet) without performance degradation.

### Redefining Battery Cell Technology

For projects requiring high capacity and cost efficiency, the PowerTitan 3.0 Plus version features a powerful 684Ah stacking large battery cell, enabling up to 12.5MW/50MWh per AC block and establishing itself as the world’s densest BESS with over 500kWh per square meter. The design promotes a compact equipment layout, reducing land use by 45% and cabling by 10% for large-scale projects, thus significantly lowering capital expenditures.

The 684Ah stacking battery cell is the first of its kind to enter mass production, offering a high energy density of 448Wh per liter and a cycle life exceeding 15,000 cycles. Safety is paramount, and the innovative Thermo-Electric Separation technology ensures that high-temperature gases do not harm battery components, preventing thermal runaway.

### Industry-Leading Liquid-Cooled SiC PCS

The PowerTitan 3.0 features the industry’s pioneering large-scale application of a fully liquid-cooled SiC PCS, delivering a power capacity of 450kW per unit. It achieves a maximum efficiency of 99.3% and a system round-trip efficiency (RTE) of 93.5%, allowing for full-power operation even in extreme heat conditions of 55°C, making it suitable for high-temperature regions.

### Rapid Deployment and Intelligent Operations

Designed for quick deployment, the PowerTitan 3.0 comes pre-installed, pre-debugged, and block-level pre-integrated, supporting one-click automated configuration and inspection at the site. This innovation reduces deployment time by 17 days for a 1GWh project.

The system also integrates intelligent features, such as Sungrow’s PowerBidder – an Electricity Market Trading System that minimizes risks and enhances profits from electricity trading. Additionally, the PowerDoctor Operation & Maintenance (O&M) tool can predict over 30 fault types with more than 99% diagnostic accuracy, facilitating proactive maintenance.

### Built-in Grid-Forming Capabilities

Sungrow’s PowerTitan 3.0 includes the company’s Stem-Cell Grid-Forming Tech 2.0, which anticipates grid disturbances and ensures the energy storage system responds proactively. The product supports synchronous delivery of renewables and energy storage, GW-scale black start capabilities, and rapid mode switching between grid-following and grid-forming. It can adapt to a wide range of short circuit ratio (SCR) changes and provides rapid response times, enhancing grid recovery and maximizing ancillary service revenue.
