Sunshine Power has been preliminarily awarded the inverter replacement project order for the Fengshou Photovoltaic Power Station (Phase I). The announcement was made on May 23, with Sunshine Power Co., Ltd. being the first candidate for the bid, offering a tender price of 15.2797 million yuan.
The Fengshou Photovoltaic Power Station is invested and constructed by Guangxi Xiangzhou Hanggui Energy Co., Ltd., located between Shilong Town and Maping Town in Xiangzhou County, Laibin City, Guangxi, near the Fengshou Reservoir. The first phase of the power station has a total installed capacity of 60 MWp and was connected to the grid in June 2017.
The system at Fengshou Photovoltaic Power Station (Phase I) comprises critical equipment including photovoltaic modules, string inverters, AC cabinets, step-up transformers, and AC/DC cables. The string inverters used are produced by Sunshine Power Co., Ltd., specifically the SG50KTL model, with a total of 1,165 units. Each SG50KTL inverter supports a maximum DC voltage of 1100V, a rated output voltage of 540V, and a rated output power of 48kW, employing air cooling. Among these, 384 units utilize RS485 communication, while 781 units use PLC (Power Line Carrier Communication).
The photovoltaic power generation system consists mainly of photovoltaic modules, string inverters, AC cabinets, step-up transformers, and AC/DC cables. Each array comprises 24 modules in series, with every 8 series connected to one SG50KTL string inverter. The inverter converts the output to 540V AC, which is then routed to an 8-to-1 AC box, with a total of 4 AC boxes connected to a 1600kVA transformer, subsequently stepping up the voltage for integration into a 35kV switch room.
The SG50KTL string inverters currently in use do not fulfill the requirements for AGC regulation, high and low penetration, and primary frequency modulation as stipulated by the Guangxi power grid. Therefore, the project aims to replace all 1,165 SG50KTL string inverters to meet these updated grid standards and avoid penalties associated with regulatory compliance.
The scope of this tender includes the following tasks:
(1) Procurement of several string photovoltaic grid-connected inverters. The inverters must pass the type certification according to NB/T32004-2018 and meet the requirements outlined in GB/T19964-2024 and GB/T40595-2021.
(2) Responsible for the removal, installation, and relocation of old and new inverters, including modifications to the inverter supports.
(3) Installation of cables for the inverters and the production and installation of terminal ends for damaged power cables.
(4) Procurement of several communication cabinets.
(5) Removal, installation, and structural modifications of new and old communication cabinets, including equipment transfer and wiring.
(6) Commissioning and testing of grid connection and communication after equipment installation.
(7) Providing warranty services as per the client’s requirements and supplying necessary spare parts.
This project is a turnkey project with a fixed total price aimed at replacing the existing Sunshine string inverters at the Fengshou Photovoltaic Power Station (Phase I) to comply with the latest grid requirements. The contractor is responsible for the procurement of equipment, construction, installation, commissioning, and the purchase of necessary construction materials, all included in the total bid price. The client will not adjust the price post-contract signing. All work must be completed within 120 days following the client’s notice to commence the project.
