One of Sweden’s pioneering hybrid solar parks has been successfully launched in Halmstad, representing a significant milestone in the pursuit of a greener and more reliable energy future. Sungrow, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, played an essential role by supplying inverters and an Energy Storage System (ESS). This project showcases the advantages of integrating solar power with advanced storage technology to enhance energy efficiency and grid stability.

Developed by Solarwork Sverige and Powerworks Energy, the hybrid solar park is capable of generating over 7,000 MWh of clean electricity annually, providing a consistent energy supply when it is most needed. Sungrow’s contributions, which include photovoltaic (PV) inverters and the PowerTitan 1.0 ESS, underscore its commitment to delivering reliable and cost-effective energy solutions.

Mr. Carl Kuylenstierna, CEO of Sperlingsholms Gods, the plant’s owner, emphasized, “We invested in a solar park because we believe society needs it, and solar energy is a sustainable way to produce electricity. We generate electricity exactly when it is needed most, in the middle of the day, and at low marginal cost.”

Mr. Fredrik Lyckvind, Chief Strategy Officer at Powerworks Energy, added, “We chose Sungrow’s technology for both the PV inverters and the BESS system because they are market leaders and perform exceptionally well in the Nordic climate. The PowerTitan 1.0 was selected for its 1C system, which allows us to charge and discharge in an hour—ideal for the markets we operate in. Furthermore, its liquid-cooled technology significantly reduces operating costs and ensures long-term system stability.”

The solar installation has a capacity of 6.6 MWp and features 11,928 bifacial 550 Wp solar panels mounted on the ground. The power conversion is facilitated by 20 units of Sungrow SG250HX string inverters, known for their efficiency and compatibility with bifacial modules. To enhance performance and support the grid, the park also includes a 4 MW / 4.4 MWh battery storage system utilizing Sungrow’s PowerTitan 1.0. This system is AC-coupled, enabling the solar panels and battery storage to operate independently for maximum flexibility.

Mr. Fredrik Liljehov, Head of Utility at Solarwork Sverige, noted, “This is one of Sweden’s first hybrid solar parks, featuring nearly 12,000 solar panels that will produce 7,000 MWh annually. We installed 20 SG250HX inverters, which were chosen for their capability to handle large energy loads while providing flexible installation options.”

Mr. Raphael Henkel, Regional Manager of Sweden and Finland at Sungrow, expressed, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Solarwork Sverige and Powerworks Energy. The successful completion of one of Sweden’s first hybrid solar parks highlights the increasing demand for integrated PV and ESS solutions. At Sungrow, we are dedicated to providing innovative, high-performance technology that supports grid stability and maximizes the deployment of renewable energy. This project for Sperlingsholms Gods is a testament to how hybrid solar and storage solutions can propel the clean energy transition forward and exemplifies a successful partnership among the involved parties.”

Sungrow’s technology was installed efficiently, adhering to strict project deadlines and ensuring smooth operation. Designed for user-friendliness and challenging environments, these solutions minimized downtime and expedited commissioning. As Sweden progresses toward sustainable energy, the Halmstad hybrid solar park sets a new benchmark, illustrating how solar power and intelligent storage can cultivate a cleaner and more resilient grid—perfectly aligning with Sungrow’s mission: “Clean power for all.”
