The 5th China International Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Summit Forum and Exhibition (CHFC) successfully concluded on April 10, 2025. The event was held at the Innovation Center of Shuanghu Technology Park in Pengzhou, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It was co-hosted by the Chongqing Institute of New Materials and Equipment Research, the Sichuan University Institute of New Energy and Low Carbon Technology, the Dalian University of Technology Chengdu Research Institute, the Southwest (Chongqing) Institute of Equipment Research, and the Key Laboratory of Green Hydrogen Production, Storage, and Efficient Utilization in Sichuan and Chongqing. The exhibition was organized by Chongqing National Exhibition Co., Ltd.
The forum attracted over 400 industry experts, scholars, and representatives from businesses worldwide, all gathering to discuss the latest advancements and future directions of the hydrogen energy sector. The theme of the conference was "Hydrogen Wind Blows Green, Gathering Wisdom to Promote Sichuan," which aimed to foster deep integration and innovative development within the hydrogen energy industry, contributing to carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.
During the event, participants engaged in extensive discussions covering the entire hydrogen energy supply chain, from production to storage, transportation, refueling, and usage. A series of high-level dialogues, keynote speeches, sub-forum exchanges, and live demonstrations facilitated the sharing of research findings and practical experiences in the hydrogen energy field.
Noteworthy speakers included academician Lei Xianzhang from the German National Academy of Engineering, Professor Yang Fuyuan from Tsinghua University, Researcher Xie Xiujuan from the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Researcher Yu Hongmei from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Professor Tang Hao from the University of Electronic Science and Technology, and Professor Chen Yuwan from Chongqing University/Chongqing New Energy Storage Materials and Equipment Institute. They delved into hot topics such as "Electric Hydrogen Coordination to Promote High-Quality Development of New Energy," "Current Status and Thoughts on Green Hydrogen Development," "Development and Demonstration of Key Equipment for Large-Scale Hydrogen Liquefaction and Storage," "Electrolytic Hydrogen Technology," "Multidimensional Intelligent Coupling of Fuel Cells: Performance Optimization and Reliability Improvement," and "Processing and Performance Optimization of Magnesium-Based Hydrogen Storage Alloy Powder Materials."
Experts unanimously agreed that under the dual carbon goals, the hydrogen energy industry is facing unprecedented development opportunities. They emphasized the need for collaborative innovation among government, industry, academia, research, and application sectors to overcome key technological bottlenecks, enhance infrastructure layouts, and expedite the commercialization and scaling of hydrogen energy applications.
The forum also featured several specialized discussions including the Key Technology Innovation Forum for Hydrogen Storage and Transportation, the Green Hydrogen Consumption Application Scenario Development Forum, the Forum for Key Materials and Components of Fuel Cells, the Forum on Fuel Hydrogen Quality Detection Technologies and Equipment, and the Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Education Forum. These sessions provided a platform for companies to showcase new technologies and products, facilitating face-to-face communication and cooperation between supply and demand sides.
To enhance participants' practical experience and bridge the gap between theory and practice, the conference organized field visits to leading hydrogen technology R&D firms and demonstration projects, including Sichuan Huaneng Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and the Dalian University of Technology Chengdu Research Institute. These visits allowed attendees to experience advanced production processes and technology applications firsthand, deepening their understanding of the hydrogen energy industry's supply chain.
During the closing ceremony, the organizers expressed that the conference not only established a high-end, professional communication platform but also strengthened connections and collaborations within the domestic and international hydrogen energy sectors. The field visits provided attendees with invaluable on-site learning opportunities, aiding in the transformation of theoretical knowledge into practical action.
With the successful conclusion of this conference, it is believed that new vitality will be injected into the hydrogen energy industry, accelerating technological innovation and promoting a new phase of high-quality development. Looking ahead, we anticipate that more research achievements will be transformed into practical applications, contributing to the realization of sustainable development goals.
