Sthyr Energy, a deeptech startup focused on energy storage solutions, has successfully secured $1 million in seed funding. This investment round was led by Speciale Invest, with participation from Antares Ventures.
Founded by Gunjan Kapadia, Akhil Kongara, and Muhammed Hamdan, all of whom are researchers from IIT Madras, Sthyr Energy is working on developing mechanically rechargeable Zinc-Air battery systems. These systems are specifically designed for long-duration and seasonal energy storage. Notably, they utilize non-flammable, water-based electrolytes to enhance safety. The innovative architecture of the system decouples energy and power components, allowing for a modular design that can be adapted to various applications.
In addition to its promising technology, Sthyr aims to contribute to the ongoing advancements in energy storage, which are critical for enabling renewable energy solutions and maintaining grid stability.
