April 2025 National Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Report Shows 34.1% Year-on-Year Growth

In April 2025, the national electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure showed remarkable growth, with the number of public charging stations increasing by 92,000 compared to March 2025, reflecting a 34.1% year-on-year growth. By the end of April 2025, member units of the alliance reported a total of 3.992 million public charging stations, including 1.834 million DC charging stations and 2.157 million AC charging stations. From May 2024 to April 2025, the monthly average increase in public charging stations was approximately 85,000.

1. Public Charging Infrastructure Overview

The top 10 regions for public charging station construction—Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Anhui, Sichuan, and Beijing—accounted for 67.7% of the total. The majority of charging electricity consumption was concentrated in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hebei, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong, Fujian, Henan, and Shaanxi, primarily used by buses and passenger cars, with a smaller share for other types of vehicles like sanitation trucks and taxis. In April 2025, the total charging electricity was approximately 6.14 billion kWh, an increase of 270 million kWh from the previous month, marking a 55.6% year-on-year growth and a 4.6% month-on-month increase.

2. Charging Infrastructure Operators

As of April 2025, the top 15 charging operators in terms of the number of charging stations were as follows:

  • Telda: 766,000
  • Star Charge: 672,000
  • Yun Kuai Charge: 623,000
  • Little Orange Charge: 240,000
  • Weijing Cloud: 221,000
  • State Grid: 196,000
  • Donkey Charge: 122,000
  • Shenzhen Car Electric Network: 105,000
  • Hui Charge: 92,000
  • Southern Grid: 90,000
  • Yiwei Energy: 79,000
  • Wancheng Wanchong: 55,000
  • Blue Fast Charge: 53,000
  • Kunlun Electric: 50,000
  • Jun Yue Charge: 48,000

These 15 operators accounted for 85.5% of the total charging stations, with the remaining operators making up 14.5%.

3. Overall Charging Infrastructure Growth

From January to April 2025, the increase in charging infrastructure reached 1.247 million units, representing a year-on-year rise of 22.5%. The number of public charging stations increased by 413,000, which is a 64.7% year-on-year growth, while the increase in privately constructed charging stations accompanying vehicles was 834,000, up by 8.8%. By the end of April 2025, the total number of charging infrastructure units in the country reached 14.064 million, up by 46.3% year-on-year.

4. Comparison of Charging Infrastructure and Electric Vehicles

From January to April 2025, the increase in charging infrastructure was 1.247 million units, while the domestic sales of new energy vehicles reached 3.658 million. The ratio of charging stations to new energy vehicles was 1:2.9, indicating that the construction of charging infrastructure can adequately support the rapid development of new energy vehicles.
