Shandong: Optimizing Wind and Solar Power Ratio

As of May 16, 2025, Shandong Province has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 100 million kilowatts in installed capacity for renewable energy, which now accounts for over 51% of the total energy capacity in the region. The current figures include 85.14 million kilowatts of photovoltaic (PV) capacity, ranking first in the nation, and 26.69 million kilowatts of wind energy capacity, placing fifth nationally. For 2024, the utilization rates are projected to be 96.4% for wind power and 98.5% for solar, both exceeding the national average by 0.5 and 1.7 percentage points, respectively.

In April, Shandong released the “Action Plan for High-Level Consumption of New Energy by 2025,” which outlines eight major initiatives to enhance the consumption capacity of renewable energy.

Shanxi: Key New Energy Projects Announced

On May 15, 2025, the Shanxi Provincial Government announced the list of key engineering projects for 2025, which includes a total of 2.47 GW of new energy projects. This comprises 703 MW of wind projects, 1.07 GW of solar projects, and 700 MW of energy storage projects. Notable projects include:

  • 100 MW photovoltaic project in Shouqing District led by China National Nuclear Corporation.
  • 160 MW photovoltaic project in Pinglu Mining Area by China Coal.
  • 110 MW photovoltaic project from the second phase of Haitai.
  • 100 MW photovoltaic project in Pinglu District by Jingneng International.
  • 100 MW integrated photovoltaic and energy storage project in Huairen.
  • 100 MW second phase photovoltaic project by Huaneng in Shan Yin.

Chint Power’s Successful Grid Connection in Japan

On May 15, 2025, Chint Power announced the successful grid connection of a typical integrated solar and energy storage project in Kumamoto, Japan. This project employs a 1.6 MW/3.3 MWh commercial energy storage system, enhancing the user’s electricity consumption efficiency. The system allows for efficient power generation during daylight hours, with excess energy stored for use during peak demand or outages, effectively lowering electricity costs.

Haicheng Energy’s New Energy Storage Solutions

On May 12, 2025, Haicheng Energy introduced the European version of its ∞Power 6.25MWh 2h/4h system, designed to meet the long-duration energy storage needs in Europe. This system is compatible with renewable energy sources and has been successfully deployed in Bulgaria, where it established the largest battery energy storage project in the country at 55 MWh. Recently, it also delivered Hungary’s first customized storage project, significantly contributing to Europe’s energy transition.

Significant Developments at Intersolar Europe 2025

The Intersolar Europe 2025 exhibition, held from May 7 to 9 in Munich, showcased significant developments in the solar and energy storage sectors. Notably, Sig Solar signed a 1 GWh framework cooperation agreement with Aprilice, the largest solar equipment distributor in Northern Europe. This agreement aims to promote large-scale energy storage development.

Additionally, JinkoSolar announced a strategic partnership with TRANS-KOL for a 20 MWh large-scale ground storage project in Poland, which will integrate Jinko’s energy storage solution with electric vehicle charging stations to optimize energy costs and enhance grid stability.

Shanghai Electric’s Renewable Energy Projects

During the Intersolar event, Shanghai Electric highlighted its successful implementation of eight photovoltaic projects, which are expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 112,000 tons annually. The company is also constructing a 220 MWh energy storage project to improve regional grid stability.

Innovative Solutions from Hoymiles

Hoymiles showcased its complete series of intelligent storage solutions at the Intersolar event, emphasizing its commitment to the renewable energy market in Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. The company has maintained its position as the second-largest supplier globally and continues to innovate with smart energy solutions tailored to diverse market needs.
