The 17th Shenzhen International Battery Technology Exchange Conference and Exhibition (CIBF2025) officially commenced on May 15, 2025, at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. Organized by the China Chemical and Physical Power Industry Association, this year’s theme is “Linking the Globe · Empowering Green · Driving the Future.” The focus is on the revolutionary advancements in battery technology and collaborative innovation across the entire industry chain, bringing together leading global companies, research institutions, and industry leaders.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global battery demand is projected to soar to 3500 GWh by 2030. China is at the forefront of this evolution, leveraging its comprehensive industry chain advantages to lead global technological advancements and standard-setting. CIBF2025 seizes this historical opportunity by transforming into a super platform covering the entire industry chain from “materials – battery cells – equipment – recycling – applications.” The exhibition area exceeds 300,000 square meters and is expected to attract over 3,200 top exhibitors and more than 400,000 professional visitors, marking a significant increase in its international participation.
During the opening ceremony, Zheng Hongyu, the chairman of the CIBF2025 organizing committee and president of the China Chemical and Physical Power Industry Association, emphasized that this is a critical period for China’s economy as it transitions towards high-quality development. The year 2025 is a pivotal turning point for the new energy sector, shifting from “scale expansion” to “quality leap,” showcasing strong development momentum. The production of new energy vehicles, lithium-ion power batteries, and solar cells has seen year-on-year increases of 45.4%, 39.2%, and 18.5%, respectively, becoming vital supports for steady growth.
In the first quarter of 2025, newly installed renewable energy capacity reached 76.75 million kilowatts, a year-on-year growth of 21%, accounting for approximately 90% of the total new installations. This marks a new phase in China’s energy structure adjustment.
This year’s exhibition spans 15 halls with nearly 300,000 square meters of exhibition space, featuring over 3,200 exhibitors and an anticipated attendance of more than 400,000 visitors. It covers the entire industry chain, including battery materials, equipment, cell manufacturing, pack technology, and recycling. Concurrently, four high-level summits and over 200 academic presentations will be held to delve into industry trends, including advanced battery technology seminars and discussions on electric aviation and next-generation battery technologies.
