With 30 years of presence in China, Schaeffler is committed to long-term development, actively serving local customers and the market. April 21, 2025 /PR Newswire/ — The wave of electrification and intelligence is sweeping through the automotive industry, reshaping the future of mobility. Schaeffler, as a technology company focused on drive technology, is embracing this industry transformation through its accumulated expertise and knowledge in the drive sector, aiming to make transportation more efficient, intelligent, and sustainable.
This year’s exhibition will prominently feature Schaeffler’s focus on electrification and intelligent applications, showcasing the rich and highly complementary product lines and technological strengths resulting from its merger with Witron Technology. Matthias Zink, CEO of Schaeffler’s Power Systems and Chassis Division, expressed excitement about demonstrating the enhanced capabilities of Schaeffler to customers and how these advancements can create more value for them. “We are fully prepared to continue innovating and shaping the future as a leading technology company focused on drive technology,” he stated.
Outstanding manufacturing technology and a diverse range of components are crucial for Schaeffler’s ongoing product development, which fosters innovative solutions for customers. The exhibition will feature a core technology area displaying a variety of essential components, including bearings, ball screws, solenoids, sensors, and controllers. Furthermore, Schaeffler will demonstrate its core manufacturing technologies, such as stamping and injection molding, used in the production of motor stators, rotors, and thermal management cooling liquid flow plates.
Comprehensive Electrification Solutions: Meeting Diverse Drive System Applications
Electrification solutions have been a core strategic business area for Schaeffler for many years. By integrating Witron Technology’s strengths in electronics and software, Schaeffler has further enhanced its capabilities in electric drive systems, offering customers a broader and more comprehensive product range. This integration allows for resource consolidation and business synergy, creating more competitive solutions for clients.
“Electrification has become an irreversible trend in the global automotive industry, especially in China, where the penetration rate of new energy vehicles has surpassed 40%, leading the global electrification transformation,” said Thomas Schenk, CEO of Schaeffler’s Electric Drive Division. “Our modular and scalable solutions can meet the diverse and rapidly growing demands of our customers.” At this year’s exhibition, Schaeffler will present a range of electrification products and solutions, from controllers, 800V silicon carbide power modules, integrated thermal management systems, battery management systems, to a diverse series of motors. These products are designed to cater to various electrification applications, including mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, pure electric drives, and hydrogen fuel cell drives.
A highlight of the exhibition will be the high-voltage PCB embedded power module. This new packaging technology in the field of high-voltage inverters is expected to set the future direction for automotive power electronics due to its unique advantages. Compared to traditional power chip packaging forms, Schaeffler’s newly developed high-voltage embedded power module achieves lower stray inductance, significantly reducing inverter switching losses and improving inverter efficiency to over 99%, thereby enhancing overall vehicle performance and efficiency while lowering costs. Additionally, the new generation of coaxial gearboxes integrated with bevel differentials will be displayed, featuring reduced weight and more compact axial space, achieving maximum efficiency of 98.7%. Schaeffler will also showcase several innovative products tailored for hybrid engine applications, including wheel hub dampers and a new generation of electric camshaft phasing systems.
Rich Intelligent Solutions: Expanding from Smart Chassis to Smart Body Applications
As a key enabler for achieving intelligent driving, particularly high-level autonomous driving, steer-by-wire chassis are evolving towards integration and intelligence. With its technological expertise in mechatronics and steer-by-wire systems, Schaeffler plays a critical role in advancing the automotive industry toward autonomous driving. The merger with Witron Technology has expanded Schaeffler’s product portfolio and technological capabilities in sensors and actuators, broadening its applications in the field of intelligence to include smart body solutions and strengthening its vertical integration capabilities, ultimately creating added value for customers.
In the smart chassis domain, Schaeffler will display various intelligent steer-by-wire products and technologies, such as the Intelligent Rear Wheel Steering System (iRWS), electro-hydraulic power steering system (e2HPS), and an all-in-one actuator for steer-by-wire braking. Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience Schaeffler’s next-generation steer-by-wire technology through an interactive simulator, which includes a force-feedback steering wheel. Additionally, Schaeffler will showcase variable damping shock absorbers (VDS) and active suspension systems (MDA) for dynamic chassis control. The innovative variable damping shock absorbers combine Schaeffler’s traditional strengths in electromagnetic valves and mechanical hydraulic systems, providing a greater range of damping adjustment to absorb vibrations from the road, reducing body pitch and roll during acceleration, braking, and cornering. The active suspension system utilizes a high-pressure oil pump to further enhance the damping performance, delivering a more comfortable ride and improved handling. The variable damping shock absorbers are set to enter mass production at Schaeffler’s Xiangtan plant this year.
Moreover, Schaeffler will present solutions for smart body applications, including electric door actuators for vehicle entry systems, handle sensors, ultra-wideband (UWB) sensors, and an intelligent sensor cleaning system (ASCS) designed for automatic vehicle camera and sensor cleaning.
Eight Product Categories Covering All Drive Types
For over 75 years, Schaeffler has been dedicated to driving innovation and development in drive technology. The core element of “drive” runs through all products and services provided by the company. The merger with Witron Technology has further expanded the product portfolio in the field of drive technology, laying a solid foundation for transforming the company into a leading technology firm focused on drive technology. Schaeffler now offers a comprehensive range of products and services that cover all types of drives, including eight categories from “drive orientation,” “drive transmission,” “drive control,” to “drive maintenance.” Attendees will have the chance to gain insights into how Schaeffler, as a technology company focused on drive technology, utilizes its products and technologies to provide innovative solutions and create value for customers in the automotive industry.
