Sany Delivers Australia’s First Hydrogen Station, Advancing Green Energy Export Plans

Sany

Sany has successfully delivered Australia’s first hydrogen station project, marking a significant advancement in its green energy internationalization efforts. On May 29, 2025, Sany entered into a strategic partnership with an Australian client, following the establishment of the largest hydrogen production and refueling station in China. This collaboration represents Sany’s inaugural venture into the international market with its related technologies.

On May 20, 2025, Sany officially delivered a custom-developed hydrogen production and refueling unit with a capacity of 200 standard cubic meters per hour to its client, which signifies a pivotal step in the internationalization of its green energy products.

Leading Technology for Efficient Hydrogen Refueling

This project employs industry-leading flexible water electrolysis technology, complemented by a comprehensive control system to ensure stable and efficient operation. The single system is equipped with dual-stage hydrogen storage capabilities of 50 MPa and 90 MPa, capable of meeting the refueling needs of both 35 MPa commercial vehicles and 70 MPa passenger cars. This means that both freight and everyday passenger vehicles can refuel quickly and safely at this integrated station.

Adhering to Global Standards for Safety and Compliance

To successfully enter the Australian market, the project strictly adhered to local market standards during production and has received comprehensive certifications from Bureau Veritas (BV) and TÜV SÜD:

  • AS 3000 Electrical Safety Certification: Meets Australia’s highest standard of Level 2.
  • ASME/AS1200 Dual Certification: Pressure vessels comply with both American and Australian standards, holding the ASME U3 stamp certification, with a fatigue life exceeding 20,000 cycles.
  • SAE J2601 Hydrogen Refueling Protocol Testing: Compliant with international fuel additive standards, enabling refueling of 70 MPa passenger vehicles within three minutes.

Design-Driven Development and Rigorous Safety Analysis

Sany utilizes a design-based forward development process. During the development phase, the project team conducted comprehensive risk assessments and controls on the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) hydrogen purification and high-pressure refueling systems, covering hazard identification, hazard and operability analysis, safety integrity level assessment, and protective layer analysis.

These analytical methods aid in precisely identifying risks early in the project, laying a solid foundation for creating safe, intelligent, and resilient hydrogen energy solutions.

With advanced technology, stringent safety standards, and global collaborative efforts, Sany’s success in the Australian market represents a critical step towards promoting sustainable development. Sany remains focused on the clean energy sector, continuously making breakthroughs in wind energy, solar energy, hydrogen energy, energy storage, and microgrid technology. Wenbo Xiang, Chairman of Sany Heavy Industry, stated, “Sany is accelerating its transition towards decarbonization and green growth, committed to injecting green development momentum into the industry.”
