
Arevon Energy, Inc., a prominent American energy developer, owner, and operator, has proudly announced the commercial launch of its Peregrine Energy Storage Project in San Diego, California. This state-of-the-art facility boasts a capacity of 200 MW / 400 MWh and is situated in the Barrio Logan community. The Peregrine project marks Arevon’s fifth utility-scale energy storage initiative in California.
Kevin Smith, the Chief Executive Officer of Arevon, expressed, “The successful completion of the Peregrine Energy Storage project is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the project’s stakeholders and the local community, who collectively support California’s renewable energy goals.” He emphasized that Peregrine represents Arevon’s ongoing commitment to energy storage and its crucial role in ensuring a reliable and stable energy system, as well as promoting domestically produced energy across the state and the nation.
Developed, owned, and operated by Arevon at a cost of $300 million, the Peregrine project employed over 90 full-time equivalent workers during peak construction. It is anticipated to generate more than $28 million in long-term property tax revenue throughout its operational lifespan. The facility utilizes cutting-edge lithium iron phosphate batteries, known for their exceptional operational safety. Since 2021, Arevon has successfully operated all its energy storage sites without any thermal or recordable safety incidents, underscoring the company’s commitment to community safety.
