Robots Accelerate Integration into Daily Life at AWE 2026

From exhibition booths to living rooms and kitchens, robots are rapidly becoming part of our daily lives | Highlights from AWE 2026

At AWE 2026, robots took center stage: YuTree Technology and Magic Atom showcased products reminiscent of the Spring Festival Gala; Haier’s home service robot made significant strides towards “unmanned housekeeping”; JD.com partnered with various brands to establish a “Robot Mech Alliance” and introduced a multibillion-dollar acceleration plan.

In the film “WALL·E,” released by Pixar Animation Studios 18 years ago, the last garbage compaction robot on Earth, WALL·E, develops self-awareness during his long years of solitude. His imaginative journey begins when he meets the probe robot, EVE. The film features minimal dialogue, with WALL·E expressing himself and his emotions through the repeated sounds of “WALL·E” and “EVE.” In 2026, a robotics company brought “WALL·E” to the AWE 2026 event, presenting the beloved character as a family robot focused on companionship and protection.

On March 12, 2026, the China Household Appliances and Consumer Electronics Expo (AWE 2026) officially opened at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. After a full day of exploration, one of the most striking impressions for reporters was the “disappearance of boundaries.” AWE 2026 has expanded beyond the realms of household appliances and consumer electronics, encompassing smart homes and a complete ecosystem of vehicles and homes. Technology products and innovations sprawled across 13 exhibition halls, fully illustrating this year’s theme: “AI Technology, Enjoying the Future.”

This year, the “Innovation Technology Exhibition Area” was established in Hall W3 of the Shanghai New International Expo Center, showcasing high-potential new technologies, products, and companies. Among them, embodied intelligence undoubtedly took the spotlight, with various companies presenting their standout innovations. The aforementioned “WALL·E” is from YuEnjoy Technology’s embodied intelligence brand, ZEROTH, which secured official licensing for this iconic IP from Disney last year. Staff at the event revealed that “WALL·E” made its debut at AWE this year, with an official launch expected in June.

In addition to “WALL·E,” ZEROTH prominently displayed its new collaborative robot, N1. This robot features a design with a heterogeneous robotic arm structure, enabling efficient collaboration through “one steady, one agile” capabilities: the left arm is a stable, retractable structure primarily used for routine tasks like grasping, while the right arm is a dexterous limb equipped with a three-fingered claw, allowing for intricate operations such as gripping, pinching, bottle opening, and drawer pulling.

YuTree Technology and Magic Atom both brought Spring Festival Gala-themed robots to the AWE 2026 event. As a leading name in the robotics sector, YuTree set up a boxing ring, where its G1 humanoid robot showcased impressive moves like hooks and flying kicks, often greeting the enthusiastic crowd surrounding the ring. Magic Atom presented its Universal Humanoid Robot MagicBot Gen1, high-dynamic bipedal robot Z1, and emotional quadrupedal robot MagicDog. The Spring Festival “Robot Panda” performed an adorable dance, attracting numerous spectators eager to capture the moment.

Across the entire AWE 2026, robots were not limited to the “Innovation Technology Exhibition Area” in Hall W3; they are now integrated with various industries and specific scenarios in other themed halls. Haier Smart Home officially launched three categories of family service robots: the “Haier Cleaning Robot,” which autonomously cleans without user prompts; the “Haier Companion Robot,” which reminds elderly users to take medication and can respond to falls; and the “Haier Housekeeping Robot,” designed to work alongside home appliances to handle chores.

At the event, reporters witnessed scenes such as robots automatically transporting ingredients to the refrigerator in the kitchen. Using barcode or visual recognition, they sorted lamb, vegetables, and nuts into designated freezing, refrigeration, and dry storage zones, while the refrigerator activated the corresponding preservation programs. In the living room, a robot collected clothes from the sofa and moved to the washing machine, which opened automatically upon sensing the robot’s approach. After placing the clothes inside, the robot closed the door. Currently, Haier’s “robot + smart appliances” system can recognize various housekeeping scenarios, gradually relieving users of chores and bringing us closer to a reality of unmanned housekeeping.

With more robotics companies showcasing their innovations at AWE 2026, alongside numerous home appliance firms integrating robots into the smart home ecosystem, this reflects the explosive growth of China’s intelligent robotics industry. This growth is driven by a combination of policy guidance, technological breakthroughs, and market demand, showing immense potential across various applications. “China’s robotics industry is now at the forefront globally, gaining international attention. 2026 will be a pivotal year for embodied intelligence,” stated the head of JD.com’s intelligent robotics division. The Spring Festival effect has significantly boosted interest in robot consumption, with related search volumes surging over 300% post-gala. Several robots showcased at the gala have now appeared in offline settings, increasing consumer engagement.

In the future, home appliances will gradually acquire embodied intelligence interaction capabilities, collaborating with robots to build a smart home ecosystem centered on embodied intelligence, enhancing the quality of human life. On the opening day of AWE 2026, JD.com joined forces with notable robotics brands such as YuTree Technology, Zhongqing, Yundong, ZEROTH, and Jingshi Technology to create a “Robot Mech Alliance,” showcasing over 60 intelligent robot products covering various scenarios, including embodied intelligence, AI companionship, industrial and commercial services, and smart cooking.

During the event, JD.com officially launched its “Intelligent Robot Industry Acceleration 2.0 Plan.” Under this plan, JD.com will sign deep strategic cooperation agreements with several leading intelligent robotics brands, aiming to help partners achieve a cumulative sales target exceeding 10 billion within 2026. JD.com will also open its resources to industry partners across diverse fields such as retail, logistics, technology, health, production development, industry, delivery, and life services, while initiating large-scale procurement orders, collectively advancing the acceleration of the intelligent robotics industry and consumer scenario applications.
