On October 13, 2025, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality Supervision announced the results of its recent inspection of the quality of new energy vehicle charging products in the city. This inspection focused on the quality of electric vehicle charging stations and involved a total of 15 different products. Among these, 6 products failed to meet the required standards.
The inspection revealed that out of the examined products, 1 product was found to be non-compliant regarding its production standards, while 8 charging stations did not meet the sales requirements. The specific quality inspection was conducted following the SHSSXZ0068-2025 standards, aimed at ensuring the safety and reliability of new energy vehicle charging infrastructure.
The inspection was carried out in five provinces, including Shanghai, Jiangsu, Guangxi, Hunan, and Henan. In Shanghai, 8 products were evaluated, with 7 failing to comply with the necessary standards. The charging stations assessed were also evaluated based on their compliance with national standards.
As a result of these findings, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality Supervision has mandated that the non-compliant products be removed from the market and that measures be taken to rectify the issues associated with these products. In response to the inspection results, the bureau has called for stricter enforcement of quality standards and more rigorous monitoring of new energy vehicle charging stations.
