Polysilicon Prices Drop Again: Maximum Decline of 2.7%

On May 29, InfoLink Consulting released the latest prices for the photovoltaic supply chain. Starting in June, the public prices for BC modules in China will be updated.

Weekly Price Summary

This week, the mainstream transaction price for N-type reprocessed polysilicon is 37.0 RMB/KG, while N-type dense polysilicon trades at 34.5 RMB/KG, and N-type granular polysilicon is priced at 33.5 RMB/KG. As of this week, orders for June have begun to be signed, but the transaction center is showing a downward trend as crystal pulling factories are cautiously purchasing, resulting in insufficient transaction volumes. Actual transaction prices hover around 35 RMB/ton.

Inventory Dynamics

As of this week, the total inventory of polysilicon is approximately 370,000 tons.

Market Analysis

In June, the demand appears weak, and the market remains in a stalemate. The polysilicon market is still experiencing low transaction volumes, with ongoing orders being signed. However, the crystal pulling segment is maintaining a considerable inventory of polysilicon, leading to a slower overall purchasing rhythm. Currently, only a few small orders have been finalized, with a significant amount of transactions coming from small to medium manufacturers. Major manufacturers are keeping their prices steady.

This week, the initial transactions for new orders are still close to 35-37 RMB/KG, with signs of a slight downward shift in the transaction range.

Upcoming Projects

Recently, the Investment Promotion Bureau of Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province, announced a project to establish a 2GW solar module manufacturing line. The project aims to attract 400 million RMB in investment and will cover an area of approximately 70 acres, including factory buildings, electromechanical engineering, and supporting infrastructure.

Carbon Footprint Management

The Gansu Ecological Environment Department has issued a work plan to establish a carbon footprint management system. By 2027, it aims to develop carbon footprint accounting rules for 3-5 key products and establish a preliminary provincial database for product carbon footprint factors.

Latest Polysilicon Market Prices (as of May 28)

According to TrendForce’s latest report, polysilicon prices continue to decline. The mainstream transaction price for N-type reprocessed polysilicon has dropped to 37 RMB/KG, with N-type dense polysilicon at 34.5 RMB/KG, experiencing a drop of 1.43%. The price of N-type granular silicon decreased from 34 RMB/KG to 33.5 RMB/KG, a decline of 1.47%.

Future Outlook

With the newly installed solar power capacity reaching 104.93 GW from January to April 2025, and a record monthly addition of 45.22 GW in April alone, the photovoltaic industry is expected to stabilize after recent fluctuations in pricing across various segments.
