On March 1, 2026, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, NVIDIA announced a collaborative commitment with several telecommunications companies, including Booz Allen Hamilton, BT Group, Cisco, Deutsche Telekom, Ericsson, MITRE, Nokia, OCUDU Ecosystem Foundation, ODC, SK Telecom, SoftBank Group, and T-Mobile, to develop the infrastructure for 6G networks that integrates artificial intelligence technologies.
NVIDIA stated that this initiative represents a collective commitment from all parties involved to ensure that the 6G infrastructure, which will be a cornerstone of global connectivity in the future, possesses characteristics of openness, intelligence, and resilience. This initiative also aims to accelerate technological innovation while maintaining global trust.
In addition to facilitating traditional connectivity functions, the 6G wireless network is set to become the core medium for physical artificial intelligence, empowering billions of autonomous machines, smart vehicles, sensors, and robots. This shift significantly increases the demand for security and trustworthiness within the network. Traditional wireless architectures were not designed to meet such requirements, and as network complexity continues to rise, various challenges have emerged.
To tackle these issues, NVIDIA is collaborating with industry stakeholders to promote a software-defined wireless platform built on open and trusted principles. The 6G network must fully integrate artificial intelligence technology across wireless access networks, edge computing, and core networks to achieve secure integrated perception and communication capabilities, intelligent decision-making abilities, while also ensuring device interoperability, supply chain resilience, and accelerating the pace of technological innovation.
