The 2025 NEX Climate Innovation Day was successfully held at the Yangtze River Delta Oasis Intelligent Valley, focusing on international cooperation in clean energy and green low-carbon innovation. The event marked the launch of the “Green Engine” Acceleration Camp, aimed at leveraging global resources to promote cross-border collaboration in climate technology, contributing to the goal of carbon neutrality.

On April 25, 2025, the event titled “Linking the World, Empowering the Future: 2025 NEX Climate Innovation Day and Launch of the ‘Green Engine’ Acceleration Camp” took place successfully at the Yangtze River Delta Oasis Intelligent Valley, Zhao Xiang Park. This event was registered as part of Shanghai Climate Week 2025 and was jointly hosted by New Energy Nexus (NEX) China and the Zhao Xiang Park in the Yangtze River Delta Oasis Intelligent Valley, with Miaoying Technology serving as the exclusive technical support partner for ESG.

The event attracted representatives from technology innovation companies, research institutions, financial investment organizations, large enterprises, and innovative ecosystems, focusing on international exchanges and cooperation in clean energy to drive the development of green low-carbon innovations and create new opportunities for cross-border collaboration.

Opening Remarks

The event began with opening speeches from Henri van Eeghen, Global CEO of New Energy Nexus, Wang Zhonghao, Deputy General Manager of Zhao Xiang Emerging Industry Economic Development (Shanghai) Co., and Zou Rong, Co-Chair of the Shanghai Climate Week Executive Committee. Henri van Eeghen expressed gratitude to the attendees and highlighted China’s exceptional innovative capabilities in renewable energy, electric mobility, and green finance, establishing the country as a significant force in global climate action. He emphasized that New Energy Nexus will continue to enhance global and local collaboration to support the clean energy transition and work towards a sustainable future.

Wang Zhonghao remarked on the consensus around green transformation and sustainable development in the face of global climate change challenges. He stated that “ecological green” is the backdrop for integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta, and the region is committed to promoting green low-carbon development, focusing on cultivating green industries and becoming a pioneer in ecological advancement.

Zou Rong also expressed expectations for the ongoing expansion and upgrade of Shanghai Climate Week, emphasizing its commitment to establishing an open, cooperative, and innovative international climate exchange platform. This collaboration with NEX aims to deepen international cooperation and harness youth power for building a greener future.

Keynote Presentation

Following the opening remarks, Xiao Jie, General Manager of NEX China, delivered a keynote presentation. Xiao highlighted that NEX China adheres to the strategy of “Entering China, Reaching the World,” providing matching services and consulting for local governments, parks, and enterprises to facilitate energy transition and achieve carbon neutrality. In 2024, NEX China will further deepen its strategy to promote climate technology domestically while exporting solutions globally, acting as a bridge in the global energy transition.

To implement this strategy, NEX China launched the “Green Engine” Acceleration Camp, inviting Henri van Eeghen, Wang Zhonghao, Zou Rong, Xiao Jie, and representatives from partner organizations to participate in the launch ceremony.

Workshops and Discussions

After the launch ceremony, Shen Shaojie, Market Director of NEX China, provided detailed project introductions for the “Green Engine” Acceleration Camp, including scenarios for company participation, competition tracks, and global resource sharing. Online contributions came from partners in the global NEX office, including Muhammad Basit Ghauri from NEX Pakistan, Jacob Taguinod from NEX Philippines, Jerry Horesaengchai from NEX Thailand, Nyla Mabro from NEX New York, and Olivia Hervy from VivaTech.

As significant partners, Li Xia, Business Director of the Shanghai Kwei International Technology Transfer Center, shared insights on Kwei’s overseas services, while Adeline Sham, Deputy Director of Climate and Livability at Temasek Foundation, presented the Foundation’s initiatives and the Global Challenge for Sustainable Development.

Workshop 1 focused on “From 0 to 1 – Clean Energy Companies Going Global,” discussing the preparations, opportunities, challenges, and solutions for clean energy companies venturing abroad. Participants included Sun Lin, Head of Global Sustainability at Jinko Solar, Yan Difei, Vice President of Miaoying Technology, Lu Ke, Executive Director of China Anshun Energy Group, and Yuan Yinghui, Managing Director and CEO of China-Italy Property Insurance. The session was moderated by Zheng Shengyin, Deputy Director of the Green Low-Carbon Technology Research Center at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Workshop 2 examined “Enhancing Global Influence: Chinese Enterprises Crafting Overseas Narratives,” engaging various perspectives from government, industry, and investors on effective communication strategies for Chinese enterprises abroad. This workshop was co-created by NEX China and TouchBase, with discussions led by Zhao Bingbing, Chief Representative for Greater China at the London Development Agency, Wang Hui, General Manager of the Dual Carbon Division at Gechro East China Technology Co., and Wu Yongman, Partner at Koru Venture Capital. The session was moderated by Guo Jiajia, Founder and CEO of TouchBase.

With the launch of the “Green Engine” Acceleration Camp during Shanghai Climate Week 2025, NEX China aims to gather global innovation efforts to promote a green low-carbon transition.
