A new intelligent general-purpose robot manufacturing base has been established in Chengdu, with production expected to commence in early June.
Located in Building 13 of the Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park in Jianyang Economic Development Zone, the name “Guangmu Robotics” stands out prominently. Inside the factory, the framework for the production line and office areas has already been erected, and workers are busy with partition construction, preparing for surface filling and panel sealing.
On April 10, it was reported that the AI intelligent general-purpose robot research and manufacturing base project in Jianyang Economic Development Zone has entered an “acceleration” phase, leveraging the well-equipped standard factory buildings in the park. The total investment for this project is 300 million yuan, with a primary focus on manufacturing smart robots for security, general use, and cleaning. The project plans to install four production lines and includes areas for research and development, testing, storage, and offices, covering a total area of approximately 12,000 square meters.
As the first artificial intelligence industry project introduced in Jianyang, this facility will not only enable the production of AI intelligent general-purpose robots locally but will also bring advanced technology, high-end talent, and proven mass production experience to enhance the local intelligent equipment industrial chain, promoting the upgrade and concentrated development of the intelligent manufacturing industry.
“We officially began construction on April 5. Currently, the main electrical wiring for the standard factory workshop has been largely completed. We only need to make some minor water and electrical modifications to the supporting small offices and finish the floor treatment and epoxy coating. The overall project is expected to be completed by May 20,” said Yong Yadong, a representative at the project site.
The project is developed by Suzhou Guangmu Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., a national high-tech enterprise focused on building an ecosystem for the general robot industry and scaling up its applications. Their products are sold in various regions both domestically and internationally. “In just over two months, our second integrated production and research base will be completed in Jianyang,” stated Zhou Hainan, the General Manager for the Southwest region of the company.
Zhou Hainan noted that typically, companies take one to two years to select land and build factories. However, with the availability of pre-existing automated standard factory buildings in the park, companies can complete renovations in just two to three months, significantly reducing their time costs. He was particularly pleased to discover that this factory also features an outdoor platform of nearly 3,000 square meters, which is ideal for setting up an outdoor testing area.
“This testing area is designed according to automotive industry standards and includes various real-world testing scenarios, such as wave and bumpy road surfaces, which will help us better layout our tests and simulate real road conditions to obtain accurate and effective data,” Zhou Hainan explained.
With the assistance of the Jianyang Economic Science and Technology Bureau, Zhang Hao, Deputy General Manager of China Mobile’s Jianyang branch, brought a service team to the site. Their objective is twofold: to ensure seamless communication for the company upon moving in and to explore collaboration opportunities with Guangmu Technology to support smart city development.
Prior to the construction of the base, Guangmu Technology had already deployed its unmanned security patrol robots in several neighborhoods in Jianyang, contributing to innovative social governance. The rich variety of application scenarios in the area was one of the reasons Guangmu Technology chose Jianyang.
Currently, with the support of relevant departments, Guangmu Technology has reached preliminary cooperation agreements with several local private and state-owned enterprises. It is reported that Jianyang has released over 60 artificial intelligence application scenario demands and has a computational power scale of 6,300P, which accounts for more than 50% of the planned intelligent computing power in Chengdu. Jianyang has also introduced policies to support the development of the artificial intelligence digital industry and has established a fund of 6 billion yuan to provide solid support for the growth of the AI industry.
