Important Announcement: The Electric Vehicle Battery and Charging Battery standards are set to undergo a review by 2025. This is an essential step in enhancing the safety and efficiency of electric vehicles.
On May 27, 2025, at 11:30 AM, the New Wave Technology app reported that an announcement was made regarding the upcoming review of the Electric Vehicle Battery and Charging Battery standards. This review aims to align with the GB 38031-2025 standards, which outline the safety requirements for electric vehicle batteries.
The review indicates that the product standards are compliant with the GB 38031-2025 regulations. It is crucial to mention that after the evaluation, it was confirmed that the products meet the safety standards of this new regulation.
On March 28, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will implement mandatory national standards for Electric Vehicle Battery Safety Requirements. These standards will come into effect starting from July 1, 2026. Key amendments include:
- Revisions to thermal runaway testing methods, assessing both external and internal heating.
- New requirements for impact testing.
- Testing for short-circuit conditions.
Moreover, the standards will ensure that batteries do not catch fire or explode during testing, thereby enhancing safety measures for electric vehicle batteries.
As part of the new regulations, the testing procedures will require a series of evaluations, including:
- Impact tests with a 30mm diameter impact head at an energy level of 150 joules, conducted three times.
- Thermal runaway tests that ensure no fire or explosion occurs.
- Long-term cycling tests at 20% State of Charge (SOC) to 80% SOC over a period not exceeding 15 minutes.
This comprehensive review process is expected to significantly enhance the safety and performance of electric vehicle batteries in the coming years.
