On September 28, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with seven other departments, released the Work Plan for Stable Growth in the Non-Ferrous Metals Industry (2025-2026). This plan outlines the implementation of a new round of strategic actions aimed at achieving breakthroughs in mineral exploration. It emphasizes the need to strengthen surveys and explorations for resources such as copper, aluminum, lithium, nickel, cobalt, and tin, with the goal of generating new findings in mineral exploration.
The plan also aims to improve the competitive and orderly allocation of mining rights. It will support the development of green and efficient mining, selection, and metallurgical technologies and equipment for low-grade, associated, and difficult-to-process resources. This initiative seeks to enhance resource recovery rates, mineral processing recovery rates, and overall utilization rates.
Additionally, the plan encourages the establishment of recycling bases for renewable resources in eligible regions, focusing on the comprehensive utilization of waste metals such as waste copper and waste aluminum, as well as the recycling of new solid wastes such as waste power batteries and waste photovoltaic components.
Lastly, the initiative will create a public service platform for basic data on strategic mineral resources, providing precise and efficient services for the utilization of these resources.
